Move along, don't waste the money.
Bought this to turn 5/8-11 taps. The handles are very poorly threaded to the point I was concerned one might fall out during use. I had to use leverage to work the adjuster enough to open past 1/2". Then about a week later this happened. Impressively terrible.

Well built and works good. Not as good as a LS Starrett but way better then any other tool maker! Great price !

Expensive but cheap
Used this for the third time and the handle snapped at the threads. Bought Irwin because I knew it as a hardy product. I'd rather buy 4 cheaper ones than this one again. Handle was hollow and a little bit of torque made it snap while tapping 1-8 threads. Wasn't good for anything but chasing threads.

Very weak head, breaks
Head cracked in 2 places on the 3rd time in use. I picked it out because it was an Irwin. Big disappointment.

Cheap and gets the job done but has a short product life
Just realized that the item I received was also missing parts... Review still stands as I used it as it was. The missing parts thing seems to be a common theme with this item. Maybe buy 2 so you can make a complete tool...It works alright. While branded as a tap handle for up to 3/4" it leaves a bit to be desired with the larger tap sizes. I feel that the design also lacks a bit of functionality and durability. No way properly secure tap in handle. My first complaint is that the tap does not get centered when held in the tap handle. While this is pretty small the off center spin was a bit annoying. This also leads to the second complaint. While I was able to complete the job the tap handle started to fatigue and crack on my second to last part. This is mostly my own fault as I should have just spent the extra $$$ and gotten a good one that was capable of withstanding the job, but I think this design, that is only securing 2 of 4 sides of the tap is also somewhat to blame.Even tightening the handle as much as physically possible didn't hold the tap very convincingly. The mouth of the tap handle got rather chewed up from torquing on it and the 2 sides that had proper engagement quickly started to wallow.I suppose if you're only tapping small holes in plastic or aluminum this tap handle will do fine. If you have any serious work that needs to get done save your money and spend it on a proper tap handle that will lastBuy once, cry once is very applicable to this product and my situation.Included are a couple of shots of the cracks that started to form and the chewed up mouth of the tap handle3 stars because it was cheap and got the job done. Do I recommend it though..... No

Great tool at a reasonable price
Great tool at a reasonable price. I use it when threading wood for children's toys. The full length handles provide balance for good alignment.

weak metal breaks easily
Used this 4 times with 5/8 11 tap to tap threads into ends of aluminum handlebars for dirt bike handguards.First 2x went fine. 3rd time, center block chipped. 4th time, main frame cracked in two places. See photos attached.I am regular guy, not so strong. This shouldn't have broken so easily. Obviously, made from cheap inferior metal.update: get the one from bosch - better made/quality.
