Love these shoes! I had a pair like them in the 90's, until they were stolen out of my car...I have been wishing I still had these tough, stylish shoes back ever since! The pair I received is perfect, and I have no complaints; however, as with any new leather goods, the material is stiff at first and does require a few "breaking in" wears before the shoes are fit to be worn in a situation that requires walking or standing for long periods. That said, I still own a pair of Doc Marten boots I've had since shortly after my old pair of Mary Janes was stolen, and they barely show their age, despite near-constant use in winter and occasional summer wear as well. I'm certain that if my old pair hadn't been taken, I'd still be sporting them today...with no blisters for my trouble!

I have loved Doc Martens for decades and these do not disappoint. This is a fashionable, goth/rocker type look and is is a solidly comfortable shoe. They are stiff at first and you have to break them in with socks but you will find that they will become comfortable in short order. It is just a shoe that is timeless and cool. If you have that kinda edgy style and you savor comfort, choose these. I used to wear the UK4/USA6....I've moved up to the UK5/USA7 in these. This is because over time and as one gets older it seems like the foot does get a touch bigger. Makes sense to me and I'm glad I made the change. The shoe is just great. The quality is still there. Now, in the past I used the brown leather Mary Janes and this black is new to me. I love the look and they are brand stamped. I hope they come out with the brown leather again and this way I can really compare. So far so good though and I can definitely recommend them. Great purchase.

I have had these several days, walking around the house with thick socks. I am torn by loving them, or not. I have received replies on my question with regard to the "break-in" period; thank you to all who took the time to do so! Having said this, the T strap is a bit uncomfortable on the top portion of my feet. They do seem a bit larger than my normal size 8 but I could not go down a size, it would be too tight. I also understand that they are not made in the UK, I can order other styles from the UK but, the cost is prohibitive, at this time. The foot-bed of these shoes are the BEST! I have had surgeries on both feet, at different times and find it really hard to buy shoes that are really comfortable so, I tend to spend more on better quality, The leather is stiff but, I don't feel that is my real challenge - it is the style of the Mary Jane with the T cross over the top and the fact that the buckles do not have an elastic band, makes it a bit tough to really want to keep them. I cannot and would not, wear them without socks; they would be too big and too uncomfortable - if I could have the same comfort from the foot-bed within the leather itself, I would give these 5 stars. Still sitting on the fence, for now and, may order a Made in England pair for comparison - If you are debating, and can take the breaking in period, do not hesitate to buy these; Made in England or not - they are still Doc Martens! 3.2018 - returned the shoe, I just could not keep them knowing that they were not the correct fit. Too bad! Seller was prompt in addressing my return.

It's great to know that classics like these are still made. Great comfort that keeps my feet in the right position, unlike today's shoes made with cloth and mesh material that eventually stretch out of shape. It is also great to know there are shoe designers that don't think females' feet are POINTED. These type of shoes, especially with a high heel pushes the feet forward cramping the toes even more which eventually leads to feet problems. My father believed that the most important part of our dress attire were the very best shoes you could afford, even if you only owned one pair. First of all it’s not made clear whether the sizes are in US or UK so I ordered a size 7 for my girlfriend but she received a size 5 which I’m assuming it’s a US 5 ? I tried them on and I’m a US 6.5 and they fit me a little tight. So then I returned them and ordered another size trying to figure out what would be equivalent to a size 7. There was no helpful size chart to go off of. Yes they have a size chart but it didn’t say if it’s in US or UK sizes so I had to resort to going through reviews and to see what others had ordered. One reviewer said they ordered a size 9 but received a size 7. So I thought I had beat the system and ordered those bad bitches BUT THEN she actually received a sized 9! Like what in the haberdashery hemoglobins?!??!!? So I gave up. I ended up just ordering straight from dr martins website. I did noticed though if you select a size and right when your about to check out and pay if you selected the item it’ll tell you the size your actually ordering and I did do this for the size 9 it said women’s size 7 so that when I thought I had beat the glitch or whatever was going on there. Who knows hopefully someone can figure this out.
