Easy to use and gets the job done
This is exactly what I wanted. A small, simple remote that doesn't feel crappy, and can control both my Xbox and tv volume.I had an Insignia/Best Buy remote that I used with my Xbox One X. When I switched to the Series X, it no longer controlled my TV volume (not the remote's fault, but the Series X/S don't have an IR blaster, and for some reason controlling volume via HDMI-CEC didn't work on my Samsung tv).I came across this device while looking for something to be able to watch media on my Xbox comfortably, without needing to keep my original tv remote handy to control the volume.I was honestly worried this would be a cheap piece of garbage but decided to give it a shot... I've only had it for one day, so can't talk about the durability or longevity -- but I'm super happy with it!Sturdy construction. Buttons have a nice feel. Works with the Xbox immediately. Took 2 minutes to program the volume and power functions from my other remote. If you're looking for something small, simple, effective, and cheap, I highly recommend this.

You must teach the volume buttons
I have my Xbox One configured such that it will control the power and volume of my tv via a small IR cable situated near the tv’s IR ‘eye’. In this way, an xbox media controller can direct the xbox and the xbox con direct the tv.When using my old media controller, all functions on it, including volume controls, worked correctly, as is - no programming necessary ( nor available ).This new controller’s volume controls MUST be programmed. You must teach it the volume up/down/mute commands. It’s fantastic that the volume buttons CAN be programmed but it would be better if the buttons did not HAVE to be programmed. All on all it’s a small nuisance.

Great functionality, programmable, better alternative than Talon Xbox One remote.
As other reviews have stated, this is a repurposing of a Roku remote. However, for the price, this remote is an excellent value. Because this is a programmable remote, I was able to get this to work with my Samsung TV, Soundbar and Blu Ray player as well as Xbox One. Although there are 4 "DIY buttons" I programmed the volume and mute buttons for my TV and DIY 1-3 as power buttons for my other electronics. The appearance isn't as nice as the Talon Xbox One remove but I found using that remote to be frustrating as button presses were not easy. The Talon remote also wasn't directly compatible with my TV set up. With this remote I can control everything with more ease and for less than the price of the Talon.

Works well, but there's a delay and no way to program the extra buttons for XBOX Blu-Ray functions.
This remote works exactly as described, and it's easy enough to use. The size is good, the rubber buttons are firm and don't have any unnecessary clicking sounds or require extra effort like you'll find on some other brands. One correction to the manual: to program the extra buttons such as volume, the 2nd remote must be held EXTREMELY close. I've found that if they are more than about 2 cm away from each other, it will not detect the button pushes on the 2nd remote. It's actually better to just touch them end-to-end. It was the only reliable way I could get the button programming to work. The only real flaw I've really found is more in the Xbox Blu Ray app. Additional functionality such as subtitles and eject can only be accessed through the Xbox Blu Ray app's on-screen menu and cannot be programmed to any buttons on this remote control. So although this remote has 4 "DIY" buttons, I couldn't really figure out any practical use for them on the Xbox One, since I only use this remote to watch Blu-Rays. I did program the volume controls for my sound system, but the DIY buttons sit unused. Too bad.Side Note: I'm not a fan of the ergonomic curved bottom, since a flat bottom is a LOT easier to hold and use, but this is a design flaw in almost all modern remote controls, so it's not unique to this remote. I personally wish modern remote controls would go back to the blocky bottoms of remotes from 20+ years ago. They are much easier to use and place on tables. Curved bottoms make pushing buttons harder and require you to hold the remote in your hand every time you want to push a button, because they want to bounce around every time you touch a button. A flat bottom would prevent the remote from rocking back and forth in your hand or on a table.3-MONTH UPDATE:The remote is still working as well as it should and is much easier for playing media than a standard Xbox One controller, but the long-term impression is if you haven't pushed a button in a few minutes there is always an awkward delay when you use it again. It seems to go to sleep after a few minutes, and you have to press a button to "wake" it up, then press the button again to perform the action. While it's still easier to use for Blu-Ray viewing than a regular Xbox One controller, this is very annoying, and I wish it just worked like a normal remote. It doesn't. If it continues doing this, I won't recommend purchasing this remote.
