Brass Armillary Sphere Astrolabe On Wooden Base Maritime Nautical & Collectible

This is a nice desk ornament, a little out of the ordinary. In my man-cave/office oi don't have much in the way of sports collectibles and paraphernalia. I've always found you can't go wrong with the nautical items and a little wood and brass are classy touches that fit in everywhere. There's an enormous selection as well, from genuine antique items to small knick-knacks. I'm always on the lookout for items such as this. My only complaint is not all the parts are brass but you can't really tell unless you attempt to polish the piece.

NOT BROKEN, AS SOME OTHERS

This is a neat little conversation-starter, but I wish it had instructions with it telling how to work it. That would make it even more fascinating.

The item arrived in a timely manner, but it arrived broken. I had the item shipped to my mother out of state, so I don’t have the item in my possession to return it. I’m not sure what to do to resolve this.

Center "globe" part is the only part that moves.

While I do enjoy the aesthetics of an astrolabe - you should be warned that this item is for display only. The inner track is welded into place and does not serve a function. Of course- if you’ve just traveled through time, and absolutely, positively NEED to navigate at sea - I would highly suggest acquainting yourself with a GPS.
