I had a problem with my laptop where the RJ-45 jack was made to be a very poor fit then stopped functioning all together
Recently, I had a problem with my laptop where the RJ-45 jack was made to be a very poor fit then stopped functioning all together. This product allowed me a way to get around that problem and I would, like the other reviewers here, highly recommend you get one - even as a backup just in case. This worked immediately out of the box and I only had to connect my ethernet cable - that was it. I did a bandwidth test and there is no drop in the download or upload speed I'm accustomed to.This makes connecting to your ethernet cable a breeze without having to deal with half invisible slots crammed next to each other from your main device.

For some reason my built in Ethernet port on my desktop would not link up with the new service provider I choose to enable faster speeds. Their support spent quite a bit of time with me on the phone to try to determine what was causing the problem, but could not find a solution. This simple device allowed me to plug one end into a USB 3.0 port and the other connected to the Ethernet cable. It solved the problem quire simply and at low cost and I am considering it for my laptop which only has wireless and no Ethernet Port. I use Windows 10 and it worked automatically and installed any drivers that might have been needed without me having to do any thing.

Sageworkz compaared to manhattan
I had previously purchased a manhattan from radio shack. The usb device was poorly fitted and did not make proper contact. I also had other problems with the device and had to return it once because the wiring came out I was worried that this product would give me the same problems. I am very very pleased with Sageworkz and had no problems at all. I kept waiting for failure based on the manahattan and it never happened. I recommend this product. It worked well for me.

Not reliable enough for daily use.
This adapter worked fine, if you plugged it in after windows started. If you just need this for an occasional plug in, no big deal. But if you're using this as your primary network connection, it's intolerable. It refused to stay operational if you power cycle the computer, even sleep would cause it to go on the fritz. It would basically mount and unmount every 3-5 seconds, never fully operating, and telling windows to play a little sound to boot.Anker makes the same product for the same price, and I've never had issues with their electronics, so I'm trying them next.

Great adaptor
works fine for a Surface 3 using a powered USB hub. Sometimes seem to take a couple reboots to get recognised, but that may be a hub issue. certainly good value.

DO NOT PURCHASE IT
Ordered this product in January. It is now May and it no longer works. Felt cheap out of the box, but I gave it a chance. Worked for a few months and then stopped. I also had to install the program every time I wanted to use it. Seriously, every single day I had to reinstall it.

Works ok on an older notebook pc running Windows 10.
I've installed this adapter on an older notebook pc that only has USB 2.0. On the same LAN segment that a couple of desktops are getting about 233 Mbps via gigabit adapters the notebook gets about 150 Mbps. It was getting about 80 Mbps on its ehternet adapter, so it is definitely faster now. Without extensive testing I cannot tell for sure why it's not getting better than 200 Mbps, but I would believe it has more to do with the USB 2.0 port on the notebook and a slower CPU that can't really keep up than any limitations on this USB/ethernet adapter.Bottom line is that this is a good adapter.

so yes--it's working great and it arrived on time
I always wait at least a couple of months before I write my reviews. Every review I read appears to have been written soon after receiving products, so yes--it's working great and it arrived on time. This adapter worked great until it broke. I do take responsibility for "breaking it", however, I do not believe that after dropping my laptop from my sofa, it should have broke. This product works great, but obviously not durable. This happened a week after the 30 day return window, so it was "new" and should have been more durable--esp for the price.
