Very useful upgrade to a 2011 MacBook Pro
The only negative thing I can say is that I should have done this much sooner. I have been running a Macbook Pro budget 2011 for the past 9 years and it has been performing really well for a couple of years. But as time and technology goes, things start to be outdated. I started with 4GB but I thought that really wasn't enough, so I upgraded it to 8GB about six months after I purchased it. I was lucky because I believe post-2012 and most of today's Apple products didn't allow parts upgrades which made me stop buying Apple machines. Going on 8GB RAM was great and it went smoothly for another 5 years. But present day it seemed to have been really bogged down at 8GB probably because I like to open multiple web browsers and run tons of programs at one time. It was starting to look like this machine was not going to be more than a machine to check emails. But I read that these models could go up to 16GB RAM so I decided to run one last upgrade. And my Apple is running very well with this new upgrade. I'm not getting freezing between screens and able to run multiple programs at one time. As long as this does the job for another two years I'll be happy. But for now, I'm happy I made the upgrade.

Great Product, Awesome Price!!
I purchased this memory upgrade package for my early 2011 Macbook Pro. I had 4 GB of RAM previously that worked pretty good, but as I started to install and use more complex programs simultaneously, I was having serious lag issues. Apples says I can upgrade to 8 GB of ram, but as I was doing some research I had seen that I could go up to 16 GB of RAM, as others have done so and computer companies had run tests verifying this. I guess Apple only suggests the 8 GB upgrade. So I figured I would give 16 GB a shot and see what happens. Now I went to the online Apple store to price memory, and they wanted $200+ for only 8 GB, which I thought was pretty insane. SO as I always do, I hopped on Amazon to check prices and stumbled upon this 16 GB upgrade for roughly 60% cheaper! So after reading the other reviews, which were al fairly positive, I decided to purchase. And boy am I glad I did! The memory works perfectly, and it was just what I needed; no more lag whats so ever. Everything runs smooth and fast. Now I know 16 GB of memory is way more than I will probably ever need, but at this amazing Amazon price, why not? If your on the fence, dont be, it works great for my needs and I am positively sure, it will for yours too.

Nice deal, worked perfectly on my early 2011 MacBook Pro
This product installed easily and worked perfectly the first time on my early 2011 MacBook Pro. I thought the price was a good deal, maybe not the cheapest, but the positive reviews reassured me that I would end up with a safe bet. The hardware test after installation went just fine, and I now have a like-new machine with amazing speed. I can't wait to try it out on a large video file that needs some sort of conversion or processing. I do have one small helpful hint and side note: I thought I lost a couple of the rather small screws from the bottom plate of my MacBook during the installation process. They were safe and sound all right, snagged by the magnetic MagSafe charging port.

Working great
I was skeptical about buying a third party Memory cards but because of the fact that I can get 16GB which is double the max Apple can provide for almost 1/3 of the price, I decided to gamble. I tell you what, it's been two months and these two memory cards are working great.. I use VMware Fusion and I run a windows 7 VM and 2 linux VMs in addition to some development tools such as eclipse, SQL developer etc, adding to that too many open pages on Safari.. and with all of that my macbook pro runs very smoothly.. before upgrading my RAM, I had a two 2GB memory cards and was not able to accomplish what I can do with my device after the upgrade. Just running windows 7 VM used to freeze my laptop, now EVERYTHING is running fast and smooth, the freezing is a HISTORY!! I only hope that these cards keep working like they are now and not quit on me anytime soon!

Great ram!
This ram is very simple to install on a non-retina display MacBook Pro and appears to work extremely well. Movies and games load faster and run smoother.

FINALLY, things are running perfectly again
12/12/13 I had to do something about my MBP 13" (early 2011) since making the mistake of upgrading to Parallels 9 (that's another story of issues nonstop and poor customer service). Everything was running on my machine perfectly fine, and I rarely had to deal with my fans running nonstop. At any rate, I checked my previously installed 8G and I was running with just 753MB remaining for ongoing processing. Temperatures from all over were starting to sky rocket due to how hard the machine was working. At any rate, I just installed the the Patriot chips. So far, the temps are nice and "chill". The fans have not come on as of yet…and based on what my readings are showing from Activity Monitor, it shouldn't any time soon. With the same programs running from earlier that left with less than a gig, I now have approximately 9G free. In other words folks, stop shopping and go ahead and snag this memory!! If there are any updates, I will be sure to provide more information.

Unstable but with Significant Performance Boost
Update 1 August 2017 After switching the slots of the RAM cards, I've faced just one instance where the Mac froze in the past few months. Update 05 April 2017 I've have faced two instances where my iMac has completely frozen. I dont usually turn off the mac but i never have even when i only had 4GB. After poking around the forums. Im gonna try re-seating the ram sticks and switching positions with 2GB sticks. If that doesnt work I will try using only the 4GB sticks if it still fails im gonna return these. ============ Original Review ---------- The product arrived 4 days in advance. I am completely satisfied with the product so far. After a fairly simple installation on my aging iMac i5 21.5" mid 2011 (4GB), I was blown away by the performance gains. Adobe suite, MS Office suite and even search is must faster. After upgrade total of 12GB Original - 2GB x 2 and Patriot - 4GB x 2 Definitely worth the price!

Great for Macbook Pro early 2011
I wanted to upgrade my Macbook Pro 13" and my wife's Macbook Pro 15" early 2011 laptops to 16gb given how cheap memory prices are nowadays. We both run pretty demanding applications that require more than 4-8gb of memory. Initially I tried the Komputerbay 16gb given the good reviews, cheap price and Amazon return policy: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00698WP50/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00 Unfortunately both sets that I received did not work for our laptops. They did not pass memory tests that I ran and generally froze our machines. I then went in search of an alternative and found Cosair's 16gb kit, which also got good reviews: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B006DI9PG8/ref=oh_details_o06_s00_i00 Unfortunately I didn't read all the reviews as several users with Macbook Pro early 2011 complained of fit issues. I tried these sticks and it appears that one set had a bad module while both suffered from not "seating" properly in the memory slots. I tried reseated them several times and noticed that the bottom stick would pop out sometimes while trying to seat the top stick. Even when both were seated properly, my computer would run for a while and then freeze and giving the fun three beep. While reading one of the Macbook Pro early 2011 reviews for this memory, they mentioned finding the Patriot 16GB Mac memory kit. Figuring a third time might be the charm, I ordered these and returned the Crucials. The Patriots appear to seat well in the Macbook Pro and have passed Rember memory test. When I have time, I'm going to run the more exhaustive Memtest on these bad boys. But so far these sticks have worked very well in both the 13" and 15" Macbook Pros. I highly recommend these for people with Macbook Pros as they are made specifically for Macs and seat properly. If you want to avoid taking a risk and wasting time in frustration, get these!
