modern English alongside the original text
I highly recommend this. This book is not 'perfect', I don't agree with all of the translations to modern English, however, it has been extremely helpful getting my teenage son both interested in and able to understand Romeo and Juliet. Each page has a modern English 'translation' shown side-by-side with the original text. It would be helpful to have this for all the Shakespeare plays.

A nice version to facilitate the reading of Romeo and Juliet
Despite that the modern translation can no way match the beauty of the original writing of Shakespeare, and that a modern translation will have great difficulties in faithfully translating the original version, it does provide a good and convenient way for us to appreciate the masterpiece of Sharespeare. I would suggest to buy two versions: one is this version to provide a quick glance into the drama of Romeo and Juliet, and another version without modern translation, but with underlying notes to provide better insights/explanations on more difficult/complicated wordings of Shakespeare's writing.

Romeo and Juliet in understandable english
This was required reading for my daughters English Honors class, and it really helped her understand the book. On each page there were two columns, one in Shakespeare's words, and the other column of the same page it was written in plain understandable English. I would recommend this to anyone (like me) who has a hard time understanding the language from that time period.

Helped to understand the wording of the play
My grandson home schools and without this book he would have failed Romeo and Juliet. It has the original words on one side of the book and a modern use of words on the opposite page.It made the language 100% understandable.Recommend for anyone who doesn’t get Shakespearean lingo ! Lol

A translation for Shakespearean
I loved the third section, which has both the original and modern text together. I would like to think I have the literary intelligence to understand Shakespeare but come on, who does? Having this translation is such a great idea.

Alles in Ordnung
Alles in allem sehr zufrieden.

Really useful to anyone who likes Romeo and Juliet
I brought this purely because I love the book/play, and it's a great idea to put both the original and modern day variations side by side. There are a little things in the script that you need to think about to get your head around sometimes (because of the language) which you need to get used to, but the modern translation by the side is very useful in aiding this. It's also interesting to just read the modern translation to see how it would sound today.

Highly Recommend.
Despite others highlighting faults I believe this is one of the best translations around. No it doesn't have headings for original and translated text (they're not needed, it's obvious) and there are no line numbers (it's still very easy to follow). As an English teacher having such an easy to read text for my students is excellent. Controversially, although I believe the stories Shakespeare wrote are still relevant today; I don't understand why we expect students to translate the language. I think asking students to read the original text makes the whole play lose meaning. Therefore, I will be focusing and reading through the translated part with my students and hope that they love the story and understand it's meaning. Well done BookCaps for producing an excellent, simplified text. I'm actually looking forward to teaching with this text, rather than battling!

No page numbers spoil a good book
This is a useful guide and helpful for those who are studying the text BUT there are no page numbers. Why?
