Updated review: I have now had 2 Sweet Alice Grinders. I loved them for about a year--until they quit working. The first blade broke. The second had a beefier looking blade; but after about a year its motor started making a terrible sound, then froze. Too bad; but I can't justify $20 a year for a grinder when I still have a 20-year old Braun that works--it's just too loud.First review:I can't resist; overall Sweet Alice is SWEET. We've had several coffee grinders, and Sweet Alice is the best at grinding coffee evenly exactly as you want it. It's also hardly ever needs cleaning because the coffee all falls out when you use as below.I had an earlier Sweet Alice whose blade broke, but this one has a beefier blade. Glad they are paying attention.For 3 scoops I run to count of 4, shake grinder up and down, repeat 2 more times. Then run and shake upside down (grinder not me). Then pour into cone, shake and pour rest. Perfect even grind and no mess every time. PS It's also very quite so I don't wake my wife up.

So my $56 Cuisinart coffee grinder finally died after about 10 years and i needed a new one quick. I saw this one for less than $17 and saw that it got more than 4 out of 5 stars so i decided to give it a try. You plug it in, make sure the silver looking thing that sticks out of the lid is lined up to the biggest hole on the base (thats what clicks on), press the silver thing and start grinding the coffee. It has very quiet power so it is not overwhelmingly loud. The manual tells you to start with 10 seconds continously on the grind button for a coarse grind and 45 seconds for expresso but i like my coffee grounds fine so i kept mine on for about 23 seconds and it was perfect. You only wash the lid and wipe down the rest of it so it is super easy quick to clean too. If its just one person that needs a quick quiet coffee grinder, this is the perfect one for you.

Very very easy to use. One suggestion, however, do NOT overfill the grinder with beans. This grinder is fast, does a great job and even though you have to turn it over to dump out the grounds, it is small enough to easily do this without a big mess. I pre-grind my beans and fill a canister (sorry you purest I'm with you in my desire for an absolutely freshly ground and brewed coffee, but not in my intent to do so. I put the grinder on top of a paper bag to catch the coffee that does fly about but really, this is extremely minimal. It took me a very short time to fill a good sized silver canister. Cleaning was a breeze. Just wiped it out with a paper towel. I'm very happy with it.

It powders my flax seeds in seconds, the only thing I've used it for so far. Very impressive, how quickly and efficiently it grinds. I chose this since it has a metal insert; many of them are plastic these days.

This coffee grinder is super quiet! I share a home with two others,and when I make coffee at o'dark thirty, I don't want to wake the dogs or my housemates! So it fits right in to my tippy-toeing mornings. It ddoes the job too know matter what your grind. You decide at a touch how fine or coarse. So it really is a good grinder at a fair price! If you happen to know an Alice, and i do, then this Sweet Alice grinder is even better!

I'm totally impressed. Got it delivered an hour ago and already crushed my humongous pills in the blink of an eye. I'm a tube feeder and my food has to go down a syringe into my tube free and clear. No blockages. This grinder, ground my horse pills to a powder in a few seconds and ready to take. Problem is they have to be taken with food. It's 2:00 pm (CT) so I'll have to wait! BUT, in the meantime, I bought a backup and it had 15% off. How lucky can you be? Oh' I suppose a billion dollar lottery, but there's always a next time. Mean-while got my backup ordered. To be honest, I only was grinding up 2 pills. Can't speak on coffee beans!!
