Made my GPS like new
I was very disappointed when my Nuvi stopped holding a charge. I really don't like to keep the power cable visible at all times in my car for security reasons. That is why I decided to try to replace the battery. I am happy to say that this battery is great. It holds a charge just like my original battery did when it was new. The instructions were easy to follow, although it was a bit hard getting the case of the nuvi open. The tool that came with it is very similar to the iPod opening tools and I never really liked those. I ended up using a guitar pick and that made the job a bit easier. The only thing to keep in mind is that the original battery (at least mine) was held in place by some kind of double sided tape. this kit doesn't include a replacement for this so the battery can rattle around a bit now, but it really isn't an issue unless you are playing catch with your GPS. You aren't doing that right?!

Only a few minor problems
Nov. 2, 2011Received the kit and installed the battery today. This part of my review will be only on the kit and installation of the battery since I have not had time to do a real duration test of it. Therefore, this portion of my review will not cover the life of the battery. The kit came with two screw drivers: a Philips head and a star head. The screws on my 750 were star-head, so there must be some out there with Philips head ones. The DVD that came with the kit is adequate and basic but could have covered a few additional issues, hence the four star rating. The first was the difficulty of getting the back off the GPS unit. The kit comes with a plastic pry tool that you use to remove the back after removing the screws; however, the back on mine was a lot more difficult to remove than the one in the video. After about four or five tries, it finally yielded and came off. Removing the actual battery was also a lot more difficult than shown in the DVD because of the double-sided tape holding it in. The DVD demo showed the old battery merely falling out. Some reviewers remarked that there was no mention of double-sided tape being required for the new battery [the piece on the old battery would not come off it] because it would rattle around inside the GPS without it. Since the tape I had would have been very difficult to remove if it prevented the back from being replaced, I decided to try it without the tape first. As it turns out, I didn't need the tape at all; the new battery fit snugly in. Therefore, I recommend trying it without the tape first. The new battery came about two-thirds already charged, and I re-charged it for about two hours to the four-bar level. I then ran a two-hour simulated trip, and it was back to about two-thirds. At the time of this writing, it has been on for about two hours and forty-five minutes and is down to about half charged.[To be continued.]Nov. 7, 2011I fully charged the battery [overnight] and ran a 4-1/2 hour simulated trip. At the end, there was still some charge left so I left it on. It lasted an additional 20 minutes for a total of 4 hours 50 min.Apr. 18, 2012Battery is still working great. No complaints.Nov. 1, 2013Still going strong.Aug. 4, 2014Still going strong.

Bad Battery
Kit with tools and instructional DVD was great. However, after charging the battery overnight, the battery lasted less than 15 minutes. Still won't hold a charge.

Screwdriver does not fit screws
My 2 star rating is based solely on the fact that the screwdriver in the kit did not fit the 2 screws on my Garmin 750. The screws required a H 1.3 precision screwdriver while the screwdriver in the kit appears to be a T3, with a considerably smaller head. (Perhaps the rating should be 1 star, in that I could not accomplish the very first step, opening the case, without buying an additional screwdriver.) It is obvious that this product met the needs of many people, but my advice is to first determine the screwdriver you'll need before ordering it. An alternative to buying the kit is to buy the battery and screwdriver separately. You can get a battery on Amazon for about $6.00 and an entire precision screwdriver set for about $12.00, less than the cost of this replacement kit. The video that accompanies the kit is useful but it is also available on YouTube.

I'm disappointed too that the display on the Garmin Nuvi 750 ...
I am surprised to have the battery fail to charge after roughly eighty hours of service. Most of the charging came with the unit connected to the service at my home; relatively little occurred while driving. I made a point of draining the battery before each charge.I'm disappointed too that the display on the Garmin Nuvi 750 shows the battery is fully charged while attempting to navigate quickly brings the 'Low Battery' warning. Plugging the unit into the car solves the problem but I hoped for an independent option.

Works as advertised
I couldn't use my 4 year old Garmin Nuvi in pedestrian mode anymore because the battery would only last about 5 minutes after charging. I saw the video on how to replace the battery on YouTube and then ordered it from Amazon. The kit included everything needed to replace the battery, including a small screwdriver with the correct head, a plastic prying tool to open the case, and an instruction CD that showed how to do everything. The wires on my replacement battery were on the opposite side of the battery than the original but the instructions were clear and the cable fit fine. The only drawback is the original battery was secured with double-sided tape which wasn't included with the replacement battery - I just carefully removed the tape from the old battery and reused it on the new one.

Renew your Garmin Nuvi 750
My Garmin Nuvi 750's battery would not hold a charge. If you check the Gamin website you'll find they don't sell battery replacements. I guess they expect us to buy new Garmins. I wanted to look at the battery before buying this kit, but was unable to find the right size star-screwdriver. This kit comes with a screwdriver, prying tool, battery, and CD that shows you how to replace the battery. It was easy to replace the battery and now my Garmin's battery can hold a charge. This kit is definately worth the money!
