On this pure audio bluray release, artistic director +yvind Gimse and his associate Geir Inge Lotsberg initially chose two pieces that represent, in their opinion, "the most beautiful music ever composer for the string orchestra": Tchaikovsky's Souvenir de Florence and his Serenade for Strings. Aiming for a 90 minute program, this left 30 minutes to record. TrondheimSolistene and 2L asked fans worldwide what they would like to hear. The majority voted Nielsen's Suite Opus 1, a little gem that would exploit the Trondheim Soloists' singular way with Nordic repertoire. TrondheimSolistene are regarded as one of the top chamber orchestras in the world. Their DIVERTIMENTI and FOLK STYLE were both nominated for a total of five American GRAMMY Awards in categories "Best Small Ensemble", "Best Engineered Album" and "Best Surround Sound Album".

Classical Music Never Sounded So Good!
this is incredibly great music. if your a lover of classical music and have a system that can support high resolution audio @ 192/24 then your ears and your system are both in for a sonic treat. the recording is very well mastered with incredible and frequent dynamic range swings; every note is crystal clear! it also comes with digital downloads on the disc ranging from MP3 (320kbps) to 192/24 stereo but, you will need a blu-ray drive on a computer to download those, it's a nice touch! i highly recommend this to anyone who is a classical music lover and especially if you also have a nice audio system.

Superb performances and unparallelled sound! Transparent, balanced in very way, clean, crisp, detailed. I'm a (now retired) conductor myself and I know what a string ensemble sounds like, up close and personal, and this puts you there! Bravo to the musicians and the recording engineers!

Amazing sound and performances
Bluray Audio 5.1 DTS Master Audio is so great - like listening to studio play backs. And, as usual, the 2L recordings and performances are excellent. The Tchaikovsky Serenade is especially great.

"Perfect Fidelity"?
I have no problem at all with the Vendor. However, the Disc itself leaves much to be desired. Firstly, the 5.1 track has a huge backround hiss on all speakers that make it unlistenable. I had to use the 7.1 track and let my reciever downmix it. Secondly, the beginning of the Tchaikovsky piece starts as soon as the player sees track one, with no period of silence beforehand; it sounds like it starts in the middle of the movement. Granted I have never heard the piece before, but I can't believe it just starts at full volume in the middle of a string of notes. I must admit that the stereo mix (which is really what i bought it for) is a stellar recording. However, as an example of how great a bluray music only recording can be.......

Volle Punktzahl!Wundervolle Musik - sehr gute Interpretation - atemberaubende Klangqualität insbesondere in der Mehrkanalwiedergabe (5.1) - 'mitten drin' statt 'nur dabei'. Alle audiophilen Betrachtungen bez. 'Bühnengröße' oder Tiefenstaffelung bei stereofoner Wiedergabe sind hier unnötig. Stereofon wiedergegeben sind die Aufnahmen freilich auch erstklassig.Ich bin begeistert.Ein Hinweis: mShuttle erlaubt Stereo-Kopien in Studiomaster-Qualität für den tragbaren Player oder das Netzwerk - angesichts der SACD-Einschränkungen eine sehr positive Entwicklung. Wer allerdings für's Heimnetzwerk eine 5.1-Audiodatei wünscht, muss statt Bluray-Audio auf Downloads bei 2L oder anderen HDAudio-Vertrieben zugehen.
