Excellent knife!
I use this knife daily, it holds a sharp edge well. It's a perfectly balanced, sturdy knife, and my favorite. Well worth the price.

Top quality, a must have...
Had my share of pairing knifes, and finally decide to invest into quality - should had done this sooner for sure. It's well balanced, keeps the edge very well and easy to sharpen when needed. Finish details is what makes this brand outstanding, aside of the steel quality - you will never want to grab any other pairing knife. Yes, it's expensive, but if you use a pairing knife often, it's worth the money Buy it and enjoy using it every time Recommended

so sharp it cuts before touching
I am not one of those spoiled by great knives for the latter half of their lives. In fact, I probably wasn't even old enough to handle knives until the latter half of my life. Anyway, I finally decided enough is enough and these crappy Ikea knives have got to go. I bought this pairing knife since working with small fruits and vegetables can be tricky with a dull knife. Well anything with a dull knife is tricky, really. Regardless, this knife is so sharp, it's unbelievable. Cuts with ease and offers great balance. You've seen those chef competitions where all the chefs cut at superhuman speeds because they basically just move their hands up and down instead of up, down and back and forth? Well they use really sharp knifes for that. And guess what? This is one of those knives. If you're looking for a sharp and durable pairing knife, look no further.

A must-have
Every time my darling daughter comes to visit, we end up needing to replace something, bless her! A few years ago we had to replace the dishwasher, simply because she insisted on doing the dishes and - well, I digress. Last visit, we thought it was safe to allow her to clear the table, but a few days after she flew home, we discovered our paring knife was nowhere to be found. NO where, I tell you. Must have gone into the trash with some spoons and ramekins. Oh, well. We take it in stride for the most part. But, not when it comes to my Wusthof knives. They are of such high quality and durability, not to mention beauty, I couldn’t bear to be without them. As soon as we ascertained what must have happened, I ordered a replacement. I’m eyeing it warmly as I write. Wusthov knives are a total joy to have and to use. Next visit, I’m thinking it should be safe to allow my beautiful daughter to straighten the rugs, yes?

Excellent kitchen staple.
Knife is ideal for small trimming and slicing jobs like cutting the tops off of strawberries. Wicked sharp! If you are used to holding a small blade in one hand and pushing the food item with your thumb be very careful. We used to do this with our old paring knife and never cut a finger. This thing is so sharp that just grazing your finger with it can cut you. Can a knife be too sharp? I guess not. It just takes some getting used to. Handle fits both my hand and my wife's smaller hand nicely. We tried a number of other knives at a high-end kitchen store and this handle felt the best to both of us. Blade is just the right length too. Longer 4-inch blades seemed unwieldy for paring and trimming.

The kitchen workhorse
This knife is good for everything from mincing herbs to slicing fruit to filleting small fish - it even makes a pretty good steak knife. I finally broke down and bought a second one, so my mate and I can cook together without fighting over it. Like all the knives in the Wusthof Classic line, this knife is fully tanged and bolstered. The tang extends into the handle and offsets the weight of the blade, and the bolster sits on your index finger to provide the fulcrum point. The result is a knife that is remarkably responsive and balanced. Some reviewers prefer the larger utility knife to this 3.5 inch parer. This knife is lighter and shorter, and therefore provides a balance point that is more comfortable for a smaller hand. If you want the full arsenal of Wusthof prep knives, get the bird's-beak parer for digging the eyes out of potatoes and the stems out of peppers, get the serrated utility knife for slicing citrus and tomatoes, get the trimming knife for cutting off stems and boo-boos, and get the utility or boning knife for for slicing and meat prep. But if you just want to buy one, get this one. UPDATE (March 2014): Cook's Illustrated has just rated this knife "highly recommended" for the second time. They also recommend the Victorinox Fibrox 8-Inch Chef's Knife , and I agree.

This knife lives up to its promise as advertised, feel hefty for its size.
Our old paring knife came with our Chicago Cutlery Knife set we bought 20+ years ago. With much use and sharpening, its blade is about half its original width. Our most used knife of our set in order of use are: paring knife, Chef's knife and long slicing knife. The Chef's knife and the slicing knife are still fine, but we decided we need toreplace our old paring knife. This Wusthof Classic Paring Knife has so much more heft to it that we feel much more confident wielding it. We've found that a well-made knife with the right amount of heft gives you confidence you can feel the first time you hold it. This knife certainly gives us that feeling. It's slightly larger and heavier than our old paring knife and it's blade doesn't flex at all like our lighter old paring knife felt like it did (ever so slightly) when sharpened, so we are still adapting to it. This is our early impression with the knife. After we get more familiar with the knife, I may revisit this review.

Top quality, but make sure you buy the Wustof shapener!
Very good knife.... Wasn't thrilled with the sharpness when it came, but later got the Wustof sharpener, and after a few stokes, this knife is super sharp! Seems to be holding it's sharpness well.

I like that the handle fits my smaller hands but my husband likes it too. It is light weight, holds up to daily use. I don't find it stays sharp quite as long as my prior MAC knife, but it is pretty good compared to other knives, and easy to quickly sharpen and bounces right back. We hand wash it and it is easy to clean. I would purchase another one, or it would be a nice gift too.

I bought this as a gift for my dad. I was looking at several others which were cheaper, and was wondering whether the extra cost would be justified. To be honest, I'm still not certain. It feels more 'solid' than other small knives I've used – the handle is hard and angular and is different to a plastic handle on a lot of pairing knives; it also suits the blade very well, but takes a minute to get used to in your hand. The biggest thing I've noticed is that it seems to hold an edge well after sharpening. It's tough to explain but it also seems to get sharper than other knives; after a quick sharpening it is viciously sharp, stays that way for a relatively long time, and then can be made just as sharp again, whereas other knives tend not to be able to unless you use a proper whetstone. I imagine this might be due to harder steel, and so hope it doesn't prove to be too brittle.
