Great Resource!
At our elementary school in Troy, Michigan we are utilizing this resource to take steps in helping our staff understand how a culture of thinking would look and feel like for adult learners first and ultimately our students.

Its value is in the thinking.
Initially I was dissapointed after reading the introduction. There is nothing new here. The 8 culture influencers are things we are already aware of. What made this book useful is the journey it takes you on, inviting you to consider what each culture influencer really means. He delves into research and analysis of best practices, gives clear models of use in classrooms, asks you to consider the place in your life and teaching, and finally suggests action steps at the end of each chapter to bring this journey to life. This is definitely a book I will have to read more than once throughout my teaching to always move myself towards improvement.

Creating Cultures of Thinking: The 8 Forces We Must Master to Truly Transform Our Schools
Bought the book to use for a book study with the Michigan Education Association and I am so glad I did! I am familiar with Ron Ritchhart as the author of Making Thinking Visible and proves to continue to advise in this publication. It is a wonderfully easy read that is though provoking! If you know a teacher it is a must have for their toolbox!

Ritchhart offers us an edifying compass in mapping out what we must do to nurture and expand our students' thinking. He illustrates why and how to implement feedback research with vivid classroom applications. Listening to understand students (and ourselves), leveraging language, self-reflection and evaluation, the energy of modeling, collaborative assessment, and strategically using Thinking Routines are just some of Ritchhart's compass points in creating a culture of thinking for and with students. This is a book of infinite integrity and a must read for every educator. Bravo and thank you, Dr. Ritchhart!

A must-read for teachers who want their students to THINK, not just "work."
This book is more profound and twice as practical as I had expected. I ordered it because a colleague said it was the best educational read she'd had in a while. True praise, indeed. Unlike other books that deliver a lot of "edubabble" that is more theory than reality, Ritchhart makes a case for a new reality based on sound theory. I found myself grabbing a highlighter--and few books hit me with that kind of force.

Big ideas worth considering
The content is meaningful and applicable. The reading gets a bit laborious at times. A good read for a group book study.

Amazing book! Great for college and beyond
I bought this for one of my college summer courses and it came in crisp condition. This book is also VERY wonderful, informative, and relative to creating, implementing, and reflecting on lesson plans. I’m keeping this textbook to use beyond my years of graduating college for my future classroom!
