Gets the Job Done
I'd really rather not pick up my dog's poop, but I live in a city, and want to make sure that people don't step in my dog's poop. However I do it, it needs to be simple.I had been using the plastic bags that my newspaper was delivered in. Several things conspired to cause me to abandon those bags: 1) I had to remember to grab several before heading out the door. Nothing worse than realizing you forgot the bag, just after Fido drops a ginormous load. And sometimes you need more than one bag. 2) The newspaper bags got flimsier as the newspaper tried to save money. So flimsy that they had little holes ripped in them where they hit the concrete when the carrier threw them. 3) I cancelled home delivery after the rates were raised one too many times.I've been buying these specialty bags for a couple years now. There's lots of rolls of bags, and they come with a dispenser the same color as the bags. The dispenser is shaped like a bone, and has a clip which lets me attach it to the leash. You insert the roll of bags in the bone. The bags dispense through an opening in the bone.Because the bone dispenser is attached to the leash, I don't have to remember to take the bags with me. They're always there. Unless I ran out of bags on the last walk, and forgot to pop a new roll in when I got home. Uh oh. Or unless I run out of bags on the walk and neglected to bring a spare roll with me. Uh oh again. The bags are big enough to pick up most poops, but not so big that you feel that you're wasting plastic. The bags are thick enough that they don't rip. Yes, you can smell poop a bit even after you've twisted the bag and knotted it shut. But it's OK, because it's your dog's poop, and you're holding the bag for them. If you find it unpleasant enough, I suppose you could double-bag it, but that would be wasting bags, which is bad.My first shipment, I bought pink bags. The second shipment, I bought blue bags. I liked the colors. Both of them had problems: 1) You can see the poop through the bags. No, the bags aren't clear, but they are thin enough to see the color of the poop where it's pressed against the bag. 2) Usually, the bags open easily, so you can open them right up and scoop up the poop. Sometimes, though, the laws of thin plastic attraction conspire to make it difficult to open the bag. This usually happens when it's cold and raining and you're standing there miserable, desperately trying to open the @$?! bag, and your dog is looking at you saying, can we go now?My third shipment, I bought black bags. I don't care for the color, but I'm here to tell you: 1) You can't see the poop through them (but you can still smell it a bit). 2) I haven't yet had a problem opening the bags. I guess the laws of thin plastic attraction don't apply to black. Unfortunately, the black bags cost more than the other colors. To me, though, they're worth the extra cost.

Great bags, keeps the poop of your hands but still smells like poop. More than worth it for the price.
Pros: Great Price Holds a lot of poop Fits just about any holder Yes it has a plastic tube in the center. Strong enough. Easy to tearCons: Not a thick as the higher priced bags (isnāt needed though) Does allow smell to come through (itās poop, what do you expect it to smell likeā¦roses?)I bought these for my bulldog/border collie mix who is a medium size puppy. I usually let him out in the fenced in back yard and clean up his waste every couple of days. These bags easily hold 3 ā 4 poop piles before I tie them off. I might be able to cram a few more in there but not taking a chance of getting it on my hands is worth the very minimal expense of the bags. And thatās one of the best things about these bags is the price. They are thick enough but you can still see through them and they definitely let the smell through, but really why would you be carrying these around after you fill them? When out for a walk I use the included holder attached to the leash (nice touch but not expensive) if my puppy does his business I pick it up, tie off the bag and if Iām not close to a trash can I leave it laying on the ground, on my way back I pick it up and take it home to the trash.Weāve had the higher priced brand and while they may be a little thicker itās not worth the added price. At approx. 60 scents more a bag with my dog pooping 3 or 4 times a day if I were to use a bag every time that would be almost $200 more a year. These bags do what they are supposed to (protect you hand from dog feces) and with a great price. I will be buying them again when I need them, which should be a long time away with the number of bags we bought.

Better and less expensive
Pros: Larger, deeper, thicker, easy to open, less expensiveCons: They still don't walk the dog for me. (LOL!)In my opinion, these are the best bags for the job of picking up the poo. They are bigger, thicker and less expensive than ones we have bought at stores locally. We notice most, that the bag is deeper than the ones we can get locally. They are also easy to tear off at the perforation- no trouble with ripping. They are easy to open the end of the bag.Ours included a holder to carry a roll with you on the walk-we don't use it-maybe that's a selling point for someone else? Its a decent holder, we just don't use one. Two bags stuck in my pocket is what goes on the walk. Our dog is predictable enough that we know we never need more than two even on a long walk.To us, it is worth buying in bulk to get a less expensive buy in the long run. What we found is that the little bags in stores locally cost 5-7Ā¢ per bag whereas these NICER ones only cost 2.8Ā¢ per bag. These are cheap enough that if I had a pet store business, I could resell these at a price lower than what they are sold for locally.Bottom line: These are the best we found.Unnecessary detail: We use ours to clean up after our neurotic Cocker Spaniel.
