"MOUTH-WATERING RECIPES FROM ACROSS THE NATION, STUNNING PHOTOS, INSPIRING, AND MUCH MORE!"
This book is the ultimate cookbook that will not disappoint, and has become the elite of my cookbook collection. There is much more offered in this inspiring cookbook, than one can possibly imagine. For starters, there are Main Dishes, Sides & More, and Sweets. This cookbook offers delicious recipes from across the nation, with stunning, colorful photos of not only prepared meals, but also special places across the nation. We go on an exciting tour of flavor from the Northeast, as we select incredible recipes from different states. We can select BLUEBERRY and CRANBERRY DELIGHTS, SUB SANDWICHES, CLAMBAKES, and much more. Several recipes are simple to prepare, and provide cooking time, as well as the number of servings. We can choose MAINE LOBSTERS from New Jersey or HOT DOGS, and there are different tastes that will indeed satisfy everyone's cravings, such as PIZZA from New York. There are recipes for BLUECRAB from Maryland, ANTIPASTO SUB from New York, or BEEF STEW with Sesame SEED BISCUITS. In addition: there are recipes from famous restaurants, recipes for breakfast, and recipes for appetizers, as well as a variety of salad dressings. Included in this fantastic cookbook is: MUFFINS; DRINKS; DIPS; DINNERS; JAMS; DESSERTS, BREAD & ROLLS; CANDY, ICE CREAM; CAKES & PIES; COOKIES & More. As if that isn't enough, there are also recipes for Frosting, and a variety of Sweet Treats. I will be gifting this golden gem to family and friends for the holidays.I have selected thus far, BUTTERY SCALLOPS in rich, creamy sauce, which is a sensation. My daughter has selected the ANTIPASTO SUB from New York to prepare for Monday's dinner. An update: The ANTIPASTO SUBS were delicious, and I will be making them again. There is: BROILED COD from Pennsylvania or DUTCH PORK CHOPS; LOBSTER NEWBURG from Maine or FRIED CLAMS; CORN BEEF & CABBAGE from Iowa; SOFT PRETZELS From Pennsylvania; and more. You can try Long Island Iced Tea from New York, or FROM SCRATCH BAGELS from Connecticut. I was surprised to see a recipe offered for NEW YORK CHEESECAKE, and AMISH SUGAR COOKIES. I made the MAPLE PANCAKES, which were delicious. West Virginia offers RED FLANNEL HASH, and I have my eyes on the AMISH BREAKFAST CASSEROLE for my next selection. We will leave updates with new recipes we make. Impressive, inspiring, and highly recommended!

Aloha Burgers
If you are looking for more ideas for dinner there are lots of good recipes in this cookbook. I tried three recipes so far with mixed results. The Easy Cuban Picadillo was pretty easy to make and I served it over rice. It was simply a ground beef recipe with tomato sauce, olives, raisins, green pepper and onion. Then I tried the Corn Chowder. That was trickier as I had to adapt the recipe quite a bit. I left out the salt and thyme and added in 1/4 cup butter blended with 1/4 cup flour to give the soup some thickness. I didn't like the idea of just eating milk with salt. I also added four teaspoons of chicken base. Then it turned out OK. I thought I might add another teaspoon of chicken base next time. But the real reason you should get this book is because it has an amazing recipe for Aloha Burgers. These are burgers with Swiss cheese, bacon, onion and pineapple with teriyaki sauce. The only thing is you have to fry the bacon before you start everything else. I'd also recommend you fry the onions right at the same time or right after the bacon. Timing is essential in this recipe as you have to get everything hot at the same time. So you are grilling pineapple at the same time as you are frying the hamburgers. I put everything on the hamburgers and put them under the broiler just for a few minutes to melt the cheese. This recipe is so good I could handle eating Aloha Burgers once a week. Now some of the things that might be important for a new cook is to realize say when a recipe calls for chopped walnuts that you have to give yourself extra time to chop them. Or when it says bacon, you have to fry that first. And it seems the time those jobs take are not calculated into the total time. So my advice it to really read the ingredients list first and do whatever needs to be done first and set it aside. I would have written some of the recipes differently if I'd been testing them. The Corn Chowder took about twice the amount of time due to having to dice all the potatoes. Some of the other recipes that look good include:Mushroom Swiss Mac and CheeseSweet Potato FriesCashew ChickenHomemade PierogiesBarbecued BrisketTortilla Vegetable Chicken SoupLentil SoupSo lots of recipes to try. I'll report back on anything else that is tasty.~The Rebecca Review

Beautiful Cookbook with Tasty Recipes
Beautiful photography of completed recipes as well as inset photos of various cities. Have only begun looking through the HUGE variety and have so far found 4 recipes I have been seeking. The incidental information that is included is fascinating. The reason I didn't give this 5 stars is because I was expecting the book's divisions by States (including darkened areas on US map on each page) would offer recipes unique to or at least shared ny people from those states. That is NOT the case. I was curious anout what was offered from my State...1 recipe!! In my large personal cookbook collection I have several cookbooks unique to my State. Out of curiosity I started looking through the origins of included regions. Why TOH editors bothered to create a cookbook by region but then just randomly have recipes from eherever is perplexing. I was hoping for recipes from submitters from the regional States...not grilled lobster recipe from Missouri--hardly where I would go for lobster.

Mixing prepackaged food together
The variety of recipes is good, however nothing is from scratch. Many things call for prepackaged ingredients. If you don't mind that then no big deal, however if you wanted a cookbook that does more than dump prepackaged food together then this is not for you.

Great gift
We purchased this as a gift for some families in Europe, and they absolutely LOVED it! It was really cool that there were recipes for things that we can get any time we want, but that they crave since they have been here, and that there were recipes for food that we specifically have in our Midwest area. I purchased measuring spoons and cups to go with them as Europeans don't cook using those (they weigh everything), and the families loved those additional gifts also.

WOW! Food porn at it's very best.
I got this book to learn as many American dishes as I can. Having had time to go through it properly I don't think there are more than five out of 730+ recipes I don't want to try. Clear pictures of delicious looking food with clear concise instructions. I think this may be the best recipe book I have ever purchased.Food porn? Heck yes - I've gone though the book now with many, many "Oh my Gods" and "I want you really badly's" being uttered as each page opens up yet another temptation to get into the kitchen and start bashing those pots and pans about! The book also comes with a free subscription to a digital copy of Taste of Home Magazine so you get top ups too!

the very best American cook book by far, the recipes are from American people that have been past down through their families. I have tried quite a few already and they are simple to make and taste amazing, especially the chowder.

Huge selection of recipes
Some great recipes in the book and the ones I’ve tried have all worked. Couple of ingredients can be difficult to find but substitutes can be used. A good buy.
