CPU Cooling Fan with Heatsink For IBM Lenovo W500 T500 45N5492 45N5493

The heat sink did not fit in my Lenovo T500. Specifically, in the upper right part of the picture there is a small box on the heat sink of this part that was not present on my existing heat sink and interfered with the keyboard, so much so that I could not reassemble the laptop. My fan had failed and the computer simply gave a fan-error and shut-off, so I had to get it working. I removed the fan and put it in my old heatsink by carefully peeling back the foil tape and pulling back the copper tabs holding the fan in place. The fan appears to be working flawlessly, but this leads to the obvious conclusion -- just buy the replacement fan that is available on Amazon and re-use the heat sink for a fraction of the cost.
