The Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World with Kids 2014

In the past I have used other guidebooks, but they are not kept current.This Unofficial Guide is not only up to date with with reviews of newest attractions, it offers a discount for a downloadable app for smart phones with up to the minute information about wait times and fastpass + for all attractions in each of the four Disney parks.The suggested plans for exploring the parks are very helpful for mapping out an itinerary for each day and assure that we will see everything that our princess desires.I only gave the book 4 stars because I didn't get to information useful to me till half way into the book. The first half discussed the challenges of traveling with small children, Disney properties and the need for advance reservations. It's not our first time at this rodeo and what I really wanted was help with day plans and info in the new attractions for this year and character meetings. That said, it met my needs nicely and the app was easy to download and operate.This is the book to buy.

We purchased this book after using the 2010 edition for the last few years. We love the way that it's arranged for the different ways that you might visit Disney: as a couple, with little kids, with older kids, with grandparents, etc. It gives you itineraries to follow based on what you're likely to be able to accomplish with those different configurations, and then you can add or subtract from there. If you have time to read up before you go, you can do a lot of planning for meal reservations and such. When we go to the park, my husband takes the little map and itinerary from the book with us and acts as our tour director. It's worked out great for us for 4 years now!

This book is great! We were with kids ages 8, 6, 3, and 20 months. Because of this book we learned that if some kids are too short for a ride, the parent who stays behind can get a Switcheroo pass and go in the FastPass line when the other parent gets off the ride, so that both parents get to ride with the bigger kids. None of our friends mentioned this to us.The tips for what rides to go to when the park opens are invaluable, as are the Apps it told us about, which tell you how long the lines are. We pretty much followed the suggestions in the book, and our trip was fabulous!

I got this book rather close to my trip, but even so. I found out I could do things that I never heard of before and it helped us have a great time there. We went to a couple of character breakfasts and my daughter got to be a princess at the beginning of a day and a pirate in the afternoon. Some of the things I didn't follow as closely (no matching t-shirts and I refuse to wear a fanny pack). But it made me aware of if I carry something then to make it the lightest thing possible (I bought a 14 oz backpack instead ... not as dorky as a fanny pack).

I bought an earlier version of this book before we went to Disney World for the first time. It gave me a very detailed description of everything I needed to know. Now that we are returning again next year and knowing Disney has made some changes to their ticking and fast pass systems I bought a new one. Boy am I happy I did! It gives you a little knowledge before you get there so you don't waste time trying to learn the new system. And, as in the first one I bought it gives great descriptions of rides and attractions. Especially helpful for parents of toddlers and young children.Very helpful!

Ordered this book prior to our trip to Walt Disney World. My last trip there was nearly 30 years ago, so I knew things had changed a lot and I might need some guidance. Went with my daughter and her three kids, ages 3, 5 and 7. This is a great book for anyone going on their first trip there, or someone like myself who is returning after many years. We referred back to it many times and it made our visit so much easier. There are many tips and information in this book you won't find in any other travel guide for Walt Disney World.

We have been to Disney World many times, but this will be our first trip with our preschool age children. Both girls are pretty sensitive to scary and dramatic shows. I bought this guide to get some ideas about which rides and shows they will enjoy. The book includes a Small-Child Fright-Potential Chart for the rides. In the sections that list all the rides, each ride is rated by different age groups, and the touring plans include plans for those with young children. The book also has information about how to prepare you kids for the trip. It is perfect for my needs. This edition also includes information on Magic Bands and FastPass+.

So much detail. Does give some good insight as to where the hotels are in comparison to the "Worlds" and commuting distances and lots of other good tips. I have come away feeling the only way to visit Disneyworld is to plan it like a military operation and Im not sure if thats what I want my holiday to be like. Might take a second read

This booked helped us focus on the fun at Disney, by planning exactly what we wanted to do with our 2 year grand-daughter. The best time to go to the parks etc. Buy well before you travel and make time to read it.

Good

This book was very handy in planning a trip to Florida. We followed almost the plan suggested but not all. Now I'm giving the book, to another person who is going. So they can save the trouble of buying the same book, which is now worthless to me. As the book is dated.

I had a copy of last years (2013) from a friend, but I wanted the updated version with the new ride info etc., however, the new info wasn't available at the time this version was published so I didn't end up getting it anyway! So that was disappointing.The book as a whole is wonderful! I have all the other major Disney travel books and I've pretty much just put them all away because this one just is the best.
