(Old Model) WD My Passport Ultra 500 GB Portable External USB 3.0 Hard Drive with Auto Backup, Blue

we purchased these to use as job storage they are very convenient and seem to work better than a flash drive hold everything including drawings for a project and then slip into the file when the project is complete for future reference

This is a SSD design so it is even smaller than my last portable HD. WD just does a nice job on their Passport brand products. I probably have bought six older models for family and myself. I have never heard a complaint. As a small plus, it comes with WD backup software. Nice....

Sometimes it scares me a little as I occasionally have to reboot to get my PC to find the Hard Drive. I have two others that don't seem to be so sensitive, so am hoping this drive isn't going to fail in the future. For now it works fine, is very small, and does what I wanted it to do, i.e., stores data.

but I can't figure out how on earth to get my files to back up onto this device. It is EXTREMELY frustrating and I wish I could just throw it out the window. I managed to successfully back up some of my files the other day when I first received it in the mail, but now I can't for the LIFE of me get it to back up the additional files that I've transferred from my other computer. I am SO annoyed. From other people's reviews, it seemed like this device was super easy to use and basically you just had to plug it in and it would automatically back everything up. That's just not happening. Maybe it's broken, maybe I just need to spend an hour reading the directions, but I bought this specifically so that I wouldn't NEED to spend an hour reading the directions. Very disappointed. Ugh.

had it for awhile, and not even 100gb of it is being in use. but its turned into just a piece of garbage that holds my important files. it is now so slow that it wont even register on my computer or ill have to defragment it every time i am able to use it. i know have to order a new one and copy n paste all my files.. (if i can)

I ordered the item because my HUGE 160g Maxtor back-up hard drive seized. The WD portable hard drive is so tiny, and so attractive. I ordered it along with an Amazon Hard Carrying Case to protect it in case I decide to travel with the portable hard drive. I use the HD for back up of my music files. Using the portable HD was smooth and trouble free. The capacity for this HD is 500.

I received this item in one day and was very happy with the fast shipping! The drive works great with no problems at all. My computer recognized the drive instantly. I have another one of these on my other computer and it works great. Always happy with WD. As advertised. Though the length of the USB cable could be listed as it is very short Compared to a drive bought locally
