This is a GREAT brush!
I wanted a silicone brush to oil up steaks before throwing them on my cast-iron griddle, seemed it would be much easier to clean than the "paintbrush" type I'd been using. I made the mistake of spending $3.47 for the house brand brush at Wally Mart. That brush has a silicone brush head with two rows of 9 bristles each (18 total), a hard plastic handle, and a thin molded plastic "collar" that holds the brush head to the handle.Well the "collar" cracked on the 5th time I washed it and the thing fell apart. Worked out to $0.74 per use with tax figured in, so it was a pretty expensive brush...Needing a replacement, I found this Premsil brush on Amazon and it looked exactly like what I wanted:1) It's molded from ONE piece of silicone - there is nothing to break so the bristle head can't fall off. You could beat it with a hammer & the bristles would still be attached. Stiffness for the handle is provided by a rod molded inside the handle.2) The one-piece design leaves NO crevices where oil or egg white or barbecue sauce or whatever can seep in & be trapped to breed germs. Makes it VERY easy to clean, I like this because I don't see the point of brushing a bunch of germs & old food residue all over my food.3) It has 4 rows of 13 bristles each for a total of 52 bristles. So it will soak up & hold a lot more of whatever you're brushing or basting onto your food, than the cheap Wally Mart brush with only 18 bristles. Used it 1st time last night with a tablespoon of canola oil in a small bowl, when I got done oiling the meat there was only a VERY thin film of oil left in the bowl. It picked up 99+ percent of the oil.Wish I'd looked on Amazon for a brush before I bought that cheap one - could have saved some money! I think this Premsil brush will still be going strong long after I'm dead, so the cost per use should be a fraction of a fraction of a cent. It is EXACTLY what I was looking for, a great product that should provide many years of service.

This may read like a negative review
This may read like a negative review, but it's not. This brush does do a good job of holding and applying sauces. And it cleans up easily. It does have a deficiency for BBQ basting IMO and that is its length. At 8 inches this brush is shorter than I expected. It wasn't until after I received it that I found the dimensions down the page on Amazon. The second picture on Amazon of the brush in a model's hand gives a false impression that the brush is longer than it actually is (compare the Amazon picture with the brush in my hand - see attached). The brush dimensions are not given at the top of the page where the brush is described as being "great as a Basting Brush for Bar-B-Q sauces and marinades". The brush does do a decent job of holding and applying my BBQ sauces (the purpose for which I bought it). But it is not the perfect brush for basting while you're actually next to a hot BBQ. The 8 inch length is really too short to make it comfortable to use above hot coals without gloves. And it could stand to be a bit wider to hold more sauce. I can recommend it for general kitchen use as it does do a good job of holding and applying thin and thick sauces. It does cleanup easily compared with bristle brushes. But be aware of the 8 inch length if you are looking for a silicone BBQ basting brush - you'll need to wear gloves if you plan to use it over a hot BBQ.

This Basting Brush Changed My Life
One evening, not long ago, I was struck with the desire to bake. A humble, 11.86 pound turkey had sacrificed itself so that I could indulge in its flesh. I soon would abide that calling. However, my euphoria was soon drowned in hopelessness as I realized I had no adequate basting instrument. Dismayed, I retired to my patio. While gazing into the tumultuous clouds with teary despair, I heard a ponderous rumble. A flash of crimson light and the heavens parted, displaying a red bolt streaking from the stars. I lifted my hands to shield myself from the onslaught, but was instead bestowed with a red silicone basting brush.Steam issued from the object as I stared at it with confusion. It was delicate, yet had a strange and complex construction. The material was rigid, yet pliable. Truly, the cosmos had conferred unto me a most mysterious paradox. A moment later, a realization washed over me: this was it; this was the very tool that would solve all my problems! I dashed to my kitchen in a giddy haste, ready to prepare and equally marvelous glaze. As I applied an oil and herb shellac to my fowl, I could no longer contain my emotions and began to weep with joy. Oh, such a glorious instrument of basting gifted to me! And oh, what basting jobs I will perform! This basting brush changed my life. No longer must I be trapped in a world of unbasted birds.

Terrific Multi-Purpose Silicone Brush
This brush far exceeded my expectations. I received it right in time for my annual family barbecue to use in many of my food preparations. I bought it to use in addition to my other brushes so I will have an extra brush on hand for my other helpers to use, but this brush became our favorite and the most used brush between us. My other brushes have nylon or natural boar bristles that required longer cleaning time with sauces all trapped in the bristles. However this new Silicone brush was extremely easy to clean and whether it's sauce, marinades, butter, or whatever we used the brush for, everything easily washed away from the brush in soap and water. Also the silicone bristles retained its shape and didn't stain or shed, unlike my other brushes that were stained by the barbecue sauce or the brown marinade sauce, and we had to pick the loose hairs from nylon and boar head bristles. By far, this multi-purpose silicone brush is the better brush and my favorite new brush. Most important is the sanitary aspect of this brush. I don't have to worry about sauces stuck inside the brush where bacteria will form and grow unseen to the eye. With this brush, you can see all between the nooks and crannies between each silicone bristle to see that it is clean. Love it.
