Great protection and control for Canon G-16
Take Your Canon G16 without fear to places where you would ordinarily risk serious damage to your somewhat expensive camera. It's not just for use under water but would be great at that also. This housing gives you complete control of all the buttons on the back and top of your G16 unlike the limited control of Canon's own housing. You can even manipulate all menu settings with ease. I used this housing fishing 15 miles out in the Gulf with Captain Marvel out of Naples, FL. Also on several beaches in the Naples area and on a canoe trip through the mangrove estuary at Barefoot Beach Park in Bonita Springs. The photos are beautiful with no distortion or color shift from the housing and I could always select exactly the settings I wanted and even review and delete unwanted photos with ease all while paddling a canoe. With the housing on, the camera puts a fair amount of strain on your neck (you can use the strap that comes with the G16). So I strongly recommend you purchase a Leupold Quick Release Binocular Harness 55895 currently for only $16.50 listed on Amazon.com. I have one for my binoculars and one for this housing. The shoulder harness distributes the weight in such a way that heavy devices feel feather light and it also keeps them centered on your chest so they don't swing around to bang on you and everything around you. Just lift and shoot.

... where the center menu FUNC/SET button will not make good contact with the camera
I've tried 2 different of these houses and each has an issue where the center menu FUNC/SET button will not make good contact with the camera. As such features like the IOS, white balance, and anything else that needs the "SET" button can not be accessed. For the cost, there are other house available.

AVOID rotary lock! The weakest poit of this housing
I had a predecessor - a FG15 for the Canon G15 camera. Based on my close examination of the FG16, it is a copycat of FG15 with a very slight differences in size. The housing is attractively priced and it is for a reason. It did serve me well for 3 years, after which, the rotary lock had broke, the housing opened under water and my camera drowned in salt water. Alas! I owned Ikelite and Canon housings before. They served me for longer and never broke like this. Rather I began seeing seals getting old and letting droplets of water in. Rotary lock is the weakest part of the housing. Held on one tiny plastic screw which eventually bound to break. Once it breaks, say farewell to your camera. If you ask me, it is genius invention to keep customers buying new housings and new cameras. You are pretty much forced to! Another extremely annoying feature is the water indicator inside the camera - the cute red flashing light. So here how it works. You take a housing out of an air conditioned vehicle into the heat of the Caribbean summer. Guess what happens next? Correct, the housing get water condensate from the inside. If there is enough, the indicator start blinking like crazy. If you decide to open and dry it up, it will still be blinking until the last micro-droplet of the condensate disappears. To make story short, the battery runs out and it is to the better. The worst and weakest part is a rotary lock. I would stay away from Fantasea from now on, unless they change the locking mechanism. It's not that I did not like the housing. I did. It is sturdy and have handy buttons. But the lock ruins it. Literally!

Very good, used up to 110 ft thus far
Very good, used up to 110 ft thus far, no leaks. All controls seem to work well. A bit difficult to open and close at times but otherwise perfect. I have not yet attached a strobe so cannot comment on that. I did attach an old case weight to help keep it down which the TSA actually considered confiscating for some odd reason.

Excellent housing
Bought this housing (and separately the Canon G16) to replace my old G10 that had broken. I previously had the Canon housing for the G10. I decided to go ahead and spend the extra money on the Fantasea housing after reading a number of reviews about the Canon housing for the G16 that indicated people were having camera floods (I also had a friend who had a catastrophic flood with the Canon housing and lost her G16). Just spent 5 days diving with this housing and it performed perfectly. No leaks and all buttons accessible and easy to use. I would definitely recommend it based on my experience.

Good so far. Just keep swimming?
Have owned this camera case for a few months now. Have taken it to 100ft or so. No leaks, seals are in good condition and the package comes with a spare seal and additional grease. It appears very similar to the OEM waterproof case, but it adds a few extra things (fiber optic flash cover, side cover lock, extra seal, flash lock, and hand strap). The electronic moisture sensor is gimmicky (if it's going off, the camera is ruined anyway).Other than a casting line that looks like a crack, the unit works well and I'm satisfied with it so far.I will update this review as I continue to use it and put it through it's paces.Next up: Using the case with an external wet fisheye lens and possibly an external strobe/fill light.Stay tuned!

Moisture sensor works well and the strobe connection is very good.
Well put together housing, hasn't flooded yet and there has been no problems with it. Moisture sensor works well and the strobe connection is very good.
