Improvement over PHV1800
Thank you Amazon for having a sale on this portable vacuum cleaner! I just got this about a week ago and only used it once for some light vacuuming of dust and hairs which worked perfectly. As directed by the instructions, I charged it for 24 hours, actually a little bit more, before first usage. I know using it once and plus for light usage doesn't speak well for my review but I want to point out that I have some history with Black and Decker Pivot vacuums. My previous portable vacuum cleaner was also a Black and Decker, specifically PHV1800. I had that vacuum for about 7+ years and I love the suction power and pivot design. Of course since it's cordless, the battery wore out over time. Now it only lasts a few minutes after a full charge. However I've never had an issue with it. In fact I never replaced the filter. I was meticulous in cleaning the canister and filter when it was medium dirty or sometimes even just light dirty. For the filter, I would shake out the dark gray junk and then use a toothpick to pick out the junk in each fold of the filter. Again because of the battery issue I thought it was finally time to retire the old one and buy a new one. I was a little hesitant to buy the BDH2000PL after reading reviews of the vacuum going dead after about a month or so for some unknown reasons. After some consideration, I decided to give Black and Decker the benefit of a doubt based on past experiences. I never had any issues with my previous B&D portable vacuum. Also years ago my family got a B&D Dustbuster and we never had issues then. So I am of the mindset that B&D makes reliable products at good consumer level prices. I like this vacuum so far and yes it hasn't died yet. Battery withstanding, this new one is a big improvement over my old PHV1800. It is a lot lighter and also has less mass. The canister can now be completely removed from the main unit for a thorough cleaning without lugging the the whole thing around like the old one. I like that the brush is now integrated into the nozzle. With the old one, the brush was a separate thing that I left plugged into the charger base and was too lazy or never noticed it to take it out and use it. The pivot feels like it has a smoother ratchet than the old one. One thing that worries me a bit though is the vacuum doesn't sound as loud as my old one. Maybe I am just equating loudness with suction power or I am not knowledgeable of any technology improvements B&D has done to this vacuum. I will just have to use it more to see how it goes. Oh one more thing, my old one actually has two "On" levels: regular power or high power vacuuming. Whenever I use the vacuum, the old one, I naturally push the switch up to the highest point until it stops. I forgot the old one's switch has a middle point before reaching the end. So I guess for my usage maybe the new one is an improvement because it removes the middle point which I never used. But so far this vacuum works. I also like the improvements over the old one so I'm convinced this new one is great. :)

Good Engineering + Good Manufacturing Quality = Good Product
Well-designed and well-built cordless vacuum with better power than expected. Some cordless vacs just do not have the power to get much done or simply take too long to get things done. This model performs. Easy adjustment of the neck. Easy cleaning out. Easy charging with the wall-mounted base. Enough power to do a good job in the car and in touching up the house carpet and hard flooring.

Definitely worth the $!
Charge first. Works like a champ! Great for stairs and small spaces. I live in a 100+ yr old home with lots of woodwork. Dusts great and can easily clean air purifier prescreens daily! This is so much more suction than the stick vacuum I bought for the half the price that won't even pick up crumbs. May be loud, but that means lots of air suction to take up everything I threw at it except dog toys which I don't want it to suck on like my big floor vacuum. If Black and Decker only designed their power tools and lawn equipment like this. Doesn't need a second gear cause first kicks!

Good suction power rated at 35 air watts, nice design, made easy for cleaning the vac, built quality seems very good.
Good suction power rated at 35 air watts, nice design, made easy for cleaning the vac, built quality seems very good. I bought this Black+Decker BDH2000PL to replace the my old PHV1800 Pivot Vac by Black+Decker. The Pivot Vac PHV1800 is an older version of the hand held vacuums currently made by Black+Decker. The PHV1800 worked very well for more than 5 years. It has very strong suction power at 35 air watts and the battery life per use was decent until recently, the suction is still strong but the battery life per use was fading more and more during the years of use. The PHV1800 was a very good vacuum and I wanted a comparable replacement hand held vac made by Black+Decker that had 35 or more air watt suction power. I did some research and the only close comparable hand held vac made by Black+Decker was the new version Pivot Vac PHV1810 and this BDH2000PL MAX, both of these vacuums also have 35 air watt suction power and the only hand held vacuums currently manufactured by Black+Decker that has 35 air watt suction power. All the other hand held vacuums made by Black+Decker has less than 35 air watt power. The differences between the PHV1810 and the BDH2000 PL MAX vacuums were the volts, weight and battery type. The PHV1810 is 18 volts, 4.5 pounds and uses a NiCad type battery. The BDH2000PL MAX is 20 volts, 3.0 pounds and uses a Lithium type battery. So I decided to go with the BDH2000 PL MAX, mainly because of the 20 volt, Lithium battery and the 35 air watt power. I just received this vacuum and it works well so far, suction is good and battery life per-use is decent. Will see how this vac holds up, will update review after some more time using the vac. If it holds up like the earlier version PHV1800 hand held Vac, then I’ll be a happy camper.

It Works Great
This is a really powerful hand held Vacuum. I have had several vacuums of this type over the years, and they were nowhere nears as good as this one is. Very easy to use, I easily did the perimeter of my living room and the flight of stairs where dust seems to collect and this jut makes it disappear fast. Also very easy to clean. I plant to get one as a gift for a friend I like it so well! Some reviews said it had a short battery life, but I sure never have had a problem. I use it for small jobs and put it back on the charger. I recommend this vacuum cleaner.

The most amazing hand-held vacuum I have ever used OR seen. It has extremely strong sucking power, better than many full vacuums I have used. It's built with a long battery life for it's size; I have run 30 minutes straight for sure in one charge and I know it could have gone longer. The head is positionable to get any angle of cleaning done. It works great in the home, in the car, for small and medium carpet/rug pieces, chairs, stairs, on hardwood, etc. Has been working perfectly for over a year now! It picks up even fairly heavy items, pebbles, rocks. It does have trouble pulling out hair from carpets, but what vacuum I have used doesn't (For reference, my main vacuum is a $1500 Tristar top end vacuum that is better than Dyson -Dyson isn't the best, Miele is as an FYI). Easy to clean, with a washable filter. NOTE: there are three ways to 'clean' it; open the outer side section, open the inner side section, remove the filter. Always take 5 seconds to empty the outer section when you are done. Every so often, clean out the inner side section. Once a month at least for regular use, take out and clean the filter. The only drawback is if you aren't paying attention you can actually accidentally open the holding container, spilling everything. I will buy it again if I need to!

USA Plug and USA Electricity (110v volts) sold to me on "Amazon.nl" in Holland WITHOUT ANY MENTION ON THE" AMAON.NL" WEB PAGE THAT THE PLUG WOULD NOT FIT INTO THE WALL SOCKET IN HOLLAND AND THAT THE VACUUM CLEANER WOULD BE DESTROYED IF I PLUGGED IT INTO THE WALL SOCKET IN HOLLAND!

El poder de succión es fuerte para un aparato inalámbrico y de mano. Ha dado el servicio para lo que lo compré. No sabía qué esperar de un producto de este tipo pero, definitivamente, funciona muy bien para lo que debe hacer.
