Great expansion for one of my favorite games.
If you are here you probably already love Kingdom Builder. This is good expansion, adds variety without too much extra complexity. Easily fits into the base box. If you like KB and you find a decent price it's a no-brainer.

Kingdom Builder Expansion
Out of all the Kingdom Builder expansions, I like this one the best.

This Breathed New Life Into the Game
This expansion adds so much more to the game than Nomads did. I've played 6 games with this expansion now, and the addition of task cards and new pieces gives the game added complexity that was really needed to keep it fresh. Ships, Wagons, and Soldiers are amazing. Just last night, a friend of mine blocked another friend with a soldier and cost him the game. Real powerful pieces!

Great expansion set with game-changing new mechanics!
This is the second expansion set by Dominion designer Donald X. Vaccarino for his award-winning 2012 game, Kingdom Builder . You will need the base set to play this. It is also compatible with Kingdom Builder Nomads Expansion 1 Board Game . Crossroads provides 4 new map boards with 2 new locations each, 4 new wooden meeples to represent ships, wagons, and warriors for each of the player colors (plus matching cardboard city hall tiles), and a set of task cards, each in a different language for your convenience: English, German, French, etc.The eight new locations are:1) The Monastery (which lets you build 1 free settlement on a canyon hex),2) The Barracks (which lets you place one of your two Warrior meeples down to block all building adjacent to it or remove an already placed Warrior--this is a very powerful new feature),3) The Wagon (which lets you place or move your Wagon meeple on a non-water hex and/or build adjacent to it, including over mountains, or remove an already placed wagon),4) The Lighthouse (which lets you place or move your Ship meeple on a water hex and/or build adjacent to it, or remove an already placed ship),5) The City Hall (which lets you place a token that represents AND counts as seven free settlements once on any 7 legal spaces that are adjacent to each other and contain no locations, tiles, tokens, or meeples), and6) The Crossroads * (lets you draw two terrain cards at the end of each turn and decide which one to play on your next, but then you must discard both). * Note that if you are using the common House Rule that already lets you draw two terrain cards and pick which one to play, I would remove the Crossroads from the game and replace it with Nomads (if you have the first expansion) or any other location of your choice from the base game.7) The Forester's Lodge (which lets you build 1 free settlement on a forest hex), and8) The Fort (which lets you draw 1 new terrain card and then place 1 settlement on a hex of that card's type). The task cards are nice. For each Crossroads board in play, you draw one task card and add it to the regular victory condition cards. The tasks can only score once each no matter how many times you accomplish them, and they only score at the end of the game, unlike the victory cards in Nomads. Example cards are score 8 gold for building seven settlements in a diagonal line, score 5 gold for completely surrounding a location with your settlements, etc.The only possible quibble to come up so far is that some folks think the Warrior might be overpowered, especially as you get two of them. That means one Warrior can always be on the board. It does block you from building adjacent to it as well as your opponents, but you can remove it on your turn to negate its blocking effect, so it's not that a big a deal to the player who owns it. Then again, I got my Warrior first and then used it to block my opponents from getting one, so that might have had something to do with it. Oh, and then I used my other Warrior to trap their Wagon as that piece can't move through other pieces. Great fun, but they still beat me.While Nomads is also a 5-star expansion and I recommend buying it, if you are only going to get one or are torn about deciding which expansion to get first, I would choose Crossroads. It changes the base game the most. It is also very well-balanced with lots of interesting new choices and ways to win.As usual for Kingdom Builder and Queen Games releases, the board 'n' bits in this expansion are durable and high quality, and the artwork pleasant. If you love Kingdom Builder, you can't go wrong with adding Crossroads and Nomads to your gaming library. The (supposedly) two final KB expansion sets are coming in 2014.

Best game ever. I want every expansion pack. If I had to pick one board game to play for the rest of my life, this would be it. Endless fun for anyone.
