Love triangle
I have found that I really enjoy TJRās style of writing so Iāve been trying to read through her list of books. This one doesnāt disappoint. It starts off telling you the story from a teenage point of view when she meets and falls in love with her eventual husband. Then you read about their marriage and how he eventually goes missing on a work trip. Heās gone for 3+ years and you hear a lot about her grief and how she tried to get through it. Eventually she takes a chance on an old dorky highschoool friend and ends up getting engaged to him. Then the husband miraculously comes back and sheās faced with deciding between the two.The good stuff:1. The writing about grief was excellent, even if you havenāt lived through a loved one dying or going missing, most people have experienced grief and the description was spot on.2. The love story of how she met her husband was sweet and it immediately transported me back to highschool crushes and best friends that you think matter more than family.3. The relationship with her parents was great - they were supportive even when they didnāt understand her choices and welcomed her back when she needed them. The not so good stuff:1. She had a strained relationship with her sister for seemingly no real reason which was a recurring theme but didnāt have much substance.2. The husbands survival story was so ridiculous and implausible it was comical. They also only discussed what he actually went through for like 1 paragraphā¦. This was the major pivotal moment⦠wish it had been better thought out and described. Wish we could have heard his point of view.3. The book focuses heavily on how a person can fundamentally change after a tragedy.. but I seriously doubt a girl who was desperate to travel the world, moved across the country, and married a trouble making jock, would suddenly decide she wants to move back home permanently, run a small family store, and marry the band geek from her highschool. That sounds like a rebound move while picking up the pieces⦠not how she would permanently shape the rest of her life.4. I personally think she picked the wrong guy in the end (donāt come for me on this). I think her decision will leave her unhappy and bored in the long run. To be fair, I think the best ending of all would have been her picking herself and starting her life fresh over going back to traveling and writing. I loved the sister telling her it wasnāt about the men, she had to figure out herself. Wish they had stuck to that theme! In sum, itās the typical good read by TJR but I wish the ending had been better with the main tragedy better thought out and addressed. Maybe one day she will write a book from Jesseās POV or Marieās POV and I would love to read those!

Soul touching
This book grabbed my heart, both breaking it and putting it back together. It is painfully beautiful in the best way. I laughed, sobbed, smiled, and cried. Taylor Jenkins Reid had me wondering the entire time how things would turn out. This is definitely something I will read again and I'm definitely ordering the paperback. Please read this book. It's love, life, truth, endings, and beginnings. It's amazing.

Perfect vacation read š
āļøāļøāļøāļø I recently brought this book with me on my vacation. Itās the perfect book to read by the beach or pool. The whole time youāre kept wondering whether sheāll pick Jesse, her adventurous high school sweetheart, or Sam, the new reliable fiancĆ©. The ending is just beautiful as only TJR can do. It makes you feel all the emotions as if you were living it.

Worth it!!!!
This book is really good but itās so so sad I never thought that I was going to cry as much as I did when I read it. The details and everything is so good this book will break your heart, but itās a beautiful story I definitely recommend you to purchase this u wonāt regret it.

a beautiful tribute to loveāof place and person
Choosing to move to Acton, MA from my hometown of NYC, it was amazing to see the town I now call home portrayed in such a loving way. TJRs writing journey mirrors my own, and I so enjoy getting lost in her stories. Her heroines sometimes frustrate. But as she describes in the backmatter, life and love are messy, and characters arenāt nearly as selfless as they think they are. Enjoy this exploration into the complexities and depths of love.

A nice story
This was a nice story and an easy read. The story pulls you in right away and keeps you engaged. I thought the ending was somewhat predictable but the plot was still well developed. For any fans of simple romance stories, this will be one you enjoy. 3.5 stars rounded up!

Every Book is a Winner
I listen rather than read. I purposefully do not read far into the description of a book because I like the surprises. This story had me at the very beginning. The narrator Julia Whelan is brilliant. Excellent job, she keeps me hooked. I've listened to the last 5 novels. Looking forward to the first 3 TJR novels.

Quality romance very different to anything else š
TJR is a new author to me ; after discovering the fantastic daisy jones and the six Iv ordered all her other novels. One true loves is an extremely good romance book š id say much much higher quality than chick lit - my goodness I hate that term itās so sexist letās band it !!! Anyway , it does start a little like a YA novel , which is an issue for me as I do not get on with YA novels ; however that is just setting the scene as Emma ages with pretty much each chapter . Itās probably everyoneās (except in some instances ) worst nightmare that a lover , partner , husband , wife etc re appears after years. Particularly at certain stages in your life , for those of us who have reached it and beyond we know youāre not the same person at 25 that you are at 45 etc and traits you find endearing in a lover in your 20s make you want to shout for divorce papers in your 50s. In my book group each one of us is on our 2nd marriage apart from the youngest member , we probably seem like a negative š lot ! There is so much that reminds me of my first marriage about this book, we met very young , we changed and moved in different directions š§ we had an amicable divorce , we are both remarried and live on opposite sides of the world , our marriage would never ever have lasted , but I have very fond memories of our life together , itās part of our history - and to quote the book āwe were right for each other once , I am who I am because I loved you and you loved me ā, if only people could have happy break ups because at some stage in your life that person made you happy. Anyway, checking out your exās is an hilarious thing to do with your girlfriends , I think thatās why social media was invented š I know I did it recently On a spa day , it made us happy it made us laugh it made us reminisce , itās also nice to see these people that at one stage in your life made you happy are happy and healthy now in their lifeās, surely weād wish that for all of them , no body deserves to be lonely. So in my humble opinion a clever little story about past and present loves which I very much enjoyed , I havenāt ever read anything quite like it , and If you havenāt laid in bed at night next to current husband / wife / lover no 2, 3, 4 or 5 and thought about no 1 or no 2 then your nose šš» will grow like Pinocchio 𤄠š happy reading folks x x x

Sweet
A great book, a great story, great love. I loved falling in love. I think is the best feeling in the world for everyone. And usually we really fall in love more times. And it can happen we find more true loves. But we stay with one at the time. Well normaly. In this book a woman lose her love of a life after one year of marriage. They traveled a lot, had really open realationship and are just perfect till he goes missing. And then she goes back to her childhood home and find an other life she really likes, she fell in love with an old love. But when they get engaged she receive a call that her dead husband is still alive and is coming back to her life.It seems impossible situation and I would die rather than choose. So emotive and so heartbreaking situation. I loved the passion and the will and I really hoped that would resolved for all in a good way. Maybe I would need more time to decide. It was a little rush for me. But anyway beautifully written. I would love those two falling in love again and again. Also a great thanks to my true love budy read."..donāt think that true love means your only love.I think true love means loving truly.Loving purely. Loving wholly."

A joyous but heartbreaking book
I binge read this in two days, completely invested in Emma's story about how she would deal with the return of her one true love, the presumed dead husband, whilst planning to marry her new fiance. I think it was a very succinctly, well written story, it didn't waffle, but it focused enough on each character to invest in the relationships and the outcome. Brought a tear or two during some of the truly heartbreaking scenes. Yet another success of a book from Taylor Jenkins Reid

Please read this book!!!
Wow! Breathtaking! I will remember this book for a long time.I was straight into the story, it felt as if my best friend and me had sat down for a cuppa and a heart to heart.I was gripped and couldnāt put the book down. I raced through it, it has so many poignant moments and parts where I re-read the paragraph just to make the words sink in so that I wouldnāt forget them.I not only highly recommend this book, I implore you to add it to you wish list and make sure you read it at least once in your life. A very strong 5āļø rating from me.

Reads like a YA novel
Iāve been reading Taylor Jenkins Reid books after picking up the seven husbands of Evelyn Hugo and really enjoying it. This book however is not in the same league. It reads more like a YA novel, and whilst I knew it would be romance focussed (especially considering the title) I found it so over the top in some places it just felt like I was leading through my nans old mills and boon books with lazy writing.
