The Moody Blues: Every Album, Every Song (On Track) : Geoffrey Feakes: desertcart.co.uk: Books Review: Well written and researched. - There are not many books written about the Moodies so I grabbed this one when it became available again. A very good read with accurate descriptions of the contents of all their albums. Recommended. Review: A long awaited book on a much underrated group - Apart from the Hollies, I can't think of another major band of note about which so few books have been written. This book is therefore very welcome. The format is straight forward; every song the Moodies ever released is discussed in the context of the album from which it belongs, or the contemporary recording session that spawned it if it was a non album track like Simple Game for instance. There is a brief commentary on each track, in sufficient detail to give the reader a flavour of the song, but not in the obsessive level of detail that is seen by the books in the "All the Songs" series. The audience for a book like this is going to be modest. Long term fans of a certain age are it's target, and many of us already have a good knowledge of the bands work, but that doesn't detract. I have thoroughly enjoyed reading again about the albums and being enthused to listen to them afresh. If you are a fan of the group, or have an interest in classic rock, then you will surely enjoy reading this and maybe like me you will give their old records a spin.

A long awaited book on a much underrated group
Apart from the Hollies, I can't think of another major band of note about which so few books have been written. This book is therefore very welcome. What an absolute brilliant read
Bought this book for my husband as a birthday present as he has been a huge fan since being a teenager. He has been completely absorbed in the book and has learnt so much when he thought he knew everything there was to know about them already. A nice touch to the book is the option to write to the publisher if you want any messages passed on, which my husband has done so will wait and see if he ever gets a response. A great read though.

Incomplete
I have thoroughly enjoyed going through this book on my long-time favourite group. I am a fan, but I would not call myself an expert - however, I think I have identified a few omissions, so I am not entirely convinced that "every song" is an accurate description. I shall contact the publishers with my thoughts/queries!

A great read about a remarkable band
This comprehensive book is essential for any Moodies fan. Every single track they have ever recorded, reviewed with passion, by an obvious lifetime fan. A great read for anyone who still loves this remarkable band.

Informative reading
As a Moody Blues fan I decided that I would like to know more about their recordings. This book does just that -- informs the reader every step of the way about each & every song including notes about the composer and to the finest detail of what instruments were played on which track. Only one (slight) disappointment it only covers Moody Blues Albums and does not include their solo albums (with the exception of Blue Jays.) It's well written and very informative -- I can recommend it.

This is an excellent and detailed overview of all the Moody Blues band members, dates and time in the band, reviews of each album, each song, and all their solo work up to 2019! The author has been an excellent reviewer having gained expertise at the Dutch progressive rock page (which I have been following for years). He does a critical but very fair review and a very constructive appreciation of their musical work, writing, and music. Also of interest, he seems to have a very critical ear and mentions frequently the instruments and details for each song. Wonderful work and observations where I learned quite a bit, even if I have been listening to these songs for years! I have been a Moody Blues fan since 1971, know all their work as well as all their solo efforts and videos. It is very nice to have all the information in a single and well-written book and at a very decent price! I am looking forward to future endeavors by the author!

When I first received this book the impression I had was that it was self published, which usually has kind of a cheaper quality about it. However, I *really* like the way it is written. There's just something more personal in the way the author writes with a perspective that isn't perfect and formalized like in big league publishing. It gives me the feeling I was there when it happened and like the author is telling me these stories over beers or something. I'm pretty sure that Moodies fans will find this to be money happily spent.

This book reads like an encyclopedia with the author's opinions thrown in, time and again. What I like about it is that it does list every album and every song the Moodies ever did, along with their solo projects, going back to their very early beginnings and continuing through the year 2018. He even lists albums by Patrick Moraz. By viewing all the material this superstar group did, I found I didn't have some of the CDs and DVD/Blue Ray items that were listed, which prompted me to open my wallet, search the internet and purchase them. About the only criticism I have is that I thought the author was going to share information about the inspiration behind each song. Also, it would have been nice if he included the lyrics to all the songs, but, that would probably involve permission from the members and make the book ten times the size that it is. Overall, I recommend this book to every serious Moody Blues fan.
