Good first book, may supplement limited info if you have existing library.
What I likeDecent first book on essential oils. Has photographs for massage techniques and is beautifully illustrated throughout. I feel like this has information from the authors previous essential oil books, which makes it a good first reference tool.Simple blend recipes that don't require a lot of oilsNice background info, great chemistry profiling, and decent safety tips. Scattered through the pages are some good nuggets, such as not using certain oils in shampoo because while technically safe, they are unstable. This sort of thing is often missing from other books.Has perfume information, that many e.o. books don't.Recipe pages have other suggestions of oils that may be used.Citing various studies that support the data, such as demonstrating that lemon oil has been found to help concentration in Japanese offices... I personally thought this was a great addition to the book. What I don't like. While the layout is very nice, too many of the chosen pictures are simply page fillers. They do not add value to the book. For example, the text for ringworm is about half the page. Then there are three pictures filling up the rest of the space, one is of a sheep, one of lemongrass, and the other of calendula cream. The page for heat rash is the same format, this time with a picture of a mom and child on the beach with a caption reminding of covering up in the sun.It seems a little light for those who who are really into essential oils. The recipes are ok, but if you have been around e.o. for a while, they are going to be known. Lavender/chamomile for insomnia... yet while these may be great oils for this, there are other blends that I have found to be more effective. In this way it seems a little light on content.Lacking info/chart on substituting oils by property. While it has safety info for kids, lacks section to help with children's stuff. Safety info for children not as intuitive as others (no list by age, rather look for the blob to denote child safe)OverallThis would be a nice gift book for someone getting into E.o. practice and techniques. I can see it encouraging safe practices, and being inspirational to someone beginning to embrace e.o's as valid alternative to over the counter treatments. The pages on massage and the photography were beautifully done, and is great to help brush up or learn those techniques! It is also nice to have some of this info to supplement other books, but if you have other books then you may find this info a little light on additional content despite having some great gems. Recommend checking it out from the library in this case to see if it adds value to your reference library.Hope this helps others.

Love having the updated Kindle version!!
I LOVE IT! It's just what I wanted! This book is an update of my 1997 book "The Complete Illustrated Guide to Aromatherapy, a Practical Approach to the Use of Essential Oils for Health and Well-being. See my photo. I use this book all the time along with The Encyclopedia of Essential Oils. That book is also an update on an old favorite.I wanted a Kindle version so I would always have it handy on my phone. It's perfect.

Very Informative
I have about 20 books on EO's and this is one of my favorites. The format of the book is easy to read and there's a lot of information about all kinds of EO's. Some of them I've never heard of. The only thing I find different to work with is the fact that the oil listing is by the Latin or technical name of the EO. Thank goodness there's an index.

Bad packaging for a new book!
The packaging should have been much better for a supposedly new book. I could not touch the book or turn pages without feeling like dust particles were attacking me. Terrible. I put the book in the freezer; then outside. I did not return it because I am not sure if fees would be charged; so, be more careful next time when ordering on-line.

Great resource for all levels of experience with essential oils
This is a terrific resource for newbies as well as those who have more experience with essential oils. I mixed up 7 different mixtures for different things and they are all working well. Plus I picked up some massage tips!

Great resource for a beginner using Essential Oils
I'm new to using Essential Oils and this book is exactly what I was looking for! It explains how to use the oils in our daily living, as well as how to treat common ailments with them. I like the descriptions of each oil.....their characteristics and uses.

Inappropriate Information For Eczema
It's ok, plenty of nice pictures, but not so good on the details. I was looking for some help in treating my eczema, but didn't find it here. The book does cover eczema, but the remedy part was talking about sunburn, so not sure if the book have been put together correctly. If the eczema advice is wrong it could cause some problems for customers using the remedies in this book.
