This is a great book for someone who is studying to become an English teacher or who is going to instruct students with a primary language other than English. The explanations are clear and there are plenty of exercises. Also, I received the book in just two days so I had it in time for my class.

I teach ESL/ELT at a private Midwestern university, and our grammar curriculum is built around the Azar books. Since I teach mostly advanced students this is the book I'm most familiar with. The explanations and examples are good, and my students find the reference charts very helpful. My one criticism is that the practice exercises are all too much alike - a lot of fill-in-the-blank or complete-the-sentence kinds of things. I often find myself bringing in outside materials to help drive home the lessons because exercises in the book are not varied enough to give students enough practice. That said, I still enjoy this book and recommend it to anyone teaching English grammar to a non-native English speaker.

I met this book 25 years ago and I like it. Honestly I have the old book still now. Recently I saw the third edition and it was better than mine. So I wanted to buy the latest one, and it was more than I expected. There are many improvements.

In short, this is the book to take when studying grammar and/or refreshing your memorythis book as all it takes to cover grammar precisely and all the English centers and universities recommend and Personally I highly Recommend it !

There are many exercises inside and help me to further consolidate my grammar. However, the price is a bit high for a used book.
