Excellent, high quality photos and tons of info

This book is a beautiful coffee table display piece that would go great in a western theme room. The book alone is a beautiful piece of artwork. Taking that into consideration, the content of the book is even better! There huge, clear crsip, up close photos on almost every page. The author did a superb job of compiling all these wonderful photos of the saddlery detail as well as the history and makers of the various items. There were even descriptions of history and famous actors in there and details about their saddles. It is well worth the $30+ price tag for all the historic information it holds. All I can say is WOW.

The Art of Western Saddles is a beautifully put together book with lovely photographs of mostly modern 1900 and later saddles. My only negative comment is that it focuses too much on modern saddles and it would have benefited greatly from adding saddles of the 1840's through the 1890's which were beautifully tooled and which (especially the earliest)also were silver mounted. The Gene Autry in LA, the Cowboy Hall of Fame and Western Heritage Center in Oklahoma City and the Museum of the Horse in Kentucky all have beautiful examples of early saddles and many private collectors also have examples that should have been added.

Beautiful photographs of beautifully made saddles, as well as interesting information on the makers' histories. I enjoyed it thoroughly.

The book is amazing. The photos are very sharp and clear. Even the smallest details on these saddles are clear to see. This is an excellent display of the saddlers' art and well organized by artist and time period. Great for tack historians, model horse tackmakers, lovers of saddles of all kinds.

Recommended "Awe" book for your coffee table. I love the intricate carved leather and silver, a big colorful book like no other showcasing a nearly lost art of custom saddle making by the best names and some forgotten names in the saddle business.

Beautifully illustrated and full of great information. A must-have for any saddle collector.
