Definitely test this product in an inconspicuous place on your leather goods before use. 'Lotion' in English seemingly differs from the German use of the term, as this product has the consistency of a water-based spray not a cream. I followed the directions exactly and lightly sprayed a new handbag with this product. However, the nozzle sputtered, and I now have a faint water stain on my less-than-a-month-old leather bag. I give this product 3 stars (rather than 1) because it works well on water-resistant leather, like my Birkenstock boots.

I so wanted to give a good review but I could not see much difference after use on a bag in need of some tlc.
