What is the actual country of origin? The original Ginsu knives sold on television were all made in Fremont Ohio by Quikut.

What is the difference between the 8 and 12 set block of knives. Please describe what knives are included in the 12 piece set. Thank you!

The 12 Piece set of Ginsu Knives has a 3.5 Paring Knife, 5" Utility Knife, 5" Serrated Utility Knife, 7" Santoku Knife, 8" Chef Knife, Four Steak Knives, Kitchen Shears, Sharpening Rod and a Bamboo Block. The only difference between the 8 piece set and the 12 piece set is the four Steak Knives. Hope this information is helpful.

Does anyone have a particular sharpener that you use on these knives that you would recommend??

I have a "Wusthof Precision Edge 4 Stage Knife Sharpener" (from Amazon) which sharpens and hones both Standard and Asian knives. It keeps all my knives very sharp. I like it because it puts the correct edge on the knife every time.

Are they dishwasher safe?

I decided this time to hand wash dry and put away in the block. So I cannot tell if they are dishwasher safe..will not even risk it..great knives for fraction of the price of wusthof henckels etc...
