Update 2023: I had contacted Black Diamond looking for a free latch to repair mine. As I said, I have one that is over 10 years old and still working. Black Diamond did make it right by replacing the whole unit instead of sending parts. I will continue purchasing from Black Diamond because they stood behind their product.I have bought Black Diamond headlamps for years and have had them last close to ten years. This latest one has a broken latch on the battery compartment after a little over a year. I am going to another manufacturer for my next one.

I’ve purchased 3 of these and am ordering #4I’ve lost them in the woods or my dog somehow knocked it out of my hand at the perfect angle and was already compromised and then it broke. It took a lot to break it it’s been submerged in water, it’s been left out in the rain. You can see from here to the end of the world with this headlamp I Walk at night with the dog but I need the peace of mind of knowing what’s around me and this provides it without question.I love the different colored lights I feel it gets the cars attentions more so than just a regular old white light when you’re walking at night

This was my 2nd. I guess there is a known problem but I was hoping it was fixed by now. First was from REI. Headlight works great for about 5 minutes then will dim and not stay on high for more than 5 seconds. New batteries will give you 5 minutes of high again then same problem. When it works it is a great light. Hope they fix it soon so I can re-order

Read the negative reviews and you will see it over and over- the lamp starts out bright and then simply dims after a few minutes. I go blind halfway through my early morning (pitch dark back country) runs. S U C K S ! Sorry BD, but it does.
