Very Nice Premium Watch
I had a couple of concerns before ordering this watch, and perhaps some readers of this review wonder about the same things. First, the actual color of the ivory dial was hard to determine. The Amazon picture has a slight greenish hue to it, and I'm happy to report that the product itself does not. The Hamilton website shows it as more like an antique parchment color, but that's not accurate, either. I would describe it as champaign in color with a slightly metalic finish. It looks great. My other concern was the 40mm case. My wrist is not particularly large (7 inches around), and I worried that 40mm might seem a little big. I see a lot of younger people wearing watches that seem as big as dinner plates, and I defintely didn't want that. It turns out that it's "just right". The band buckles in the center hole for my size wrist, so I guess the folks at Hamilton agree that 40mm is correct for a 7 inch wrist. I have been wearing a stainless steel 36mm Rolex for almost 27 years, and I wanted something different and less "corporate" now that I'm retired. This watch is just what I have been looking for - Swiss self winding movement, high build quality, first class leather band, etc. Very traditional and very classy, but somewhat casual, too. I have only been wearing it for about 2 weeks now, so I can't provide specifics on accuracy, but it seems to be quite accurate. I have not had to reset the time. Compared to other Swiss brands using the exact same movement, Hamiltons are a real bargain. Delivery went without a hitch - arrived in perfect condition, right on time, as is typical with Amazon and its affiliates.

Absolutely worth owning.
This Hamilton Khaki is a beautiful watch. Classic, refined and casual all describe the timeless look of this automatic. What’s to love: • The size is perfect for an average man’s wrist - striking but not pretentious • The thickness (11mm) and weight make it easy to forget you are wearing it • The Swiss 2834-2 movement is well known for its dependability • The leather band is very sturdy and a wonderful neutral brown • The detail on the watch face screams quality • The face color is a classy ivory linen stationary color. Pale yet pleasingly noticeable • The open back face showcases the quality movement • Day and Date change over quickly – not over the course of hours (for you PM shift workers) What’s to not like? Not much. The band takes a little breaking in to get the right curve but that is easily done with a little moisture and keeping it fastened on the display box cushion overnight. My husband was elated to add this to his watch collection as an everyday accessory in his business casual world.

I can't say enough wonderful things about this watch
I can't say enough wonderful things about this watch. It's elegant (not approaching anywhere near gaudy) and comfortable. Best of all, mine runs 2 or 3 seconds fast every 24 hours. For an automatic watch, that's lovely and no doubt due to this unit's precise Swiss ETA movement. As for the illuminated hands/markers. It may not take a very bright glow initially as some watches seem to, but it does provide a easily seen glow and the nicest thing I've noticed is this watch will retain that glow for many hours. I love my Seikos (though none are as accurate as this Hamilton Khaki) and it will glow lovely after a brief charge of light, but will quickly die out and become just about unreadable after 2 hours. This Khaki Field King is still very much readable after 4 hours and longer if the eyes remain accustomed to the dark. For example, if the watch is exposed to daylight before I wear it to bed (I work nights often), I can look at my watch some 7 or 8 hours later, in a darkened room, and the hands are still quite visible. This is just something none of my other watches (that are not tritium) can do. The band is also well made and should last a while unless seriously abused. And of course this watch will hack and can be manually wound, which is something I appreciate. I'll set this watch to the second using time.gov and at the end of the workweek, I'm still accurate within 10 seconds (always fast). I have forgotten to wear it for a couple days which must have met or exceeded 40 hours only to find it still ticking away. I have zero regrets with this purchase.

Great watch, horrible strap
I really like everything about this watch. Slim for an auto, beautiful dial, accurate, long power reserve and crown guards. Great for under $500. Only downside with the watch itself is the water reaistance (50m). I wish it was at least 100m, but you gotta compromise I guess. Next is the strap. It's small for my wrist so I am on the second to the last hole. When wearing it, it's painful on the wrist bone due to how stiff it is. Just get a different band when you buy this watch. You'll be happy you did. I wear the watch far more often now with the new band.

Excellent watch with fantastic looks and true Swiss high quality
I did not think this watch would be as beautiful as it turned out to be. The photo taken here does not do it any justice at all. It is very elegant with great finishing and the back exhibition window which shows the automatic movement is truly fantastic. The leather had-crafted band is very nice indeed. I only wish it had a butterfly clasp which would hold the band as one piece preventing it from falling to the ground whenever you want to wear it, but this can be bought in the internet for about 10-15 US$. It keeps time accurately and one of the complications I did not know about this watch is that it turns the date and day at 12:00 midnight in a click. This complication is quite impressive and adds quality and art to the watch mechanism instead of the typical watches that start to turn the date as of 8:00 PM up to 12:00 midnight. This usually bothers me and in this watch it does not exist! Finally, the adjusting of the watch is so easy; first click of the winder adjusts day and/or date. If you turn it clockwise, it adjusts the date and counterclockwise adjusts the day. Second click of the winder adjusts the minutes/hours.

It’s excellent. These are generally referred to by the watch community as ‘entry level’ field watches. This model is quite dressy and understated.

What can I say my first Hamilton watch it is beautiful the pics on the website do not do the watch face and colour of it justice, the detail in it when it hits the light at different angles, keeps very good time and long power reserve too, and this was the best price I had found for this watch new as well very very pleased will be buying Hamilton again for sure
