Can you occasionally take the "machine" parts out and have just a water table?

The ball table comes disassembled so you can choose to not put in the “machine” part if that’s what you want. It is attached to the base with screws away from the main water basin so you can take it off whenever you choose and reattach it.

Can you add sand, instead of water?

Thank you for contacting Step2. No - Sand is not recommended. The tracks and ball conveyor will jam if sand gets inside and unit will not function properly. Intended for use with water only. Regards, Step2 Consumer Service
