Amazing, highly recommended.
Have a Shark at my parents, and older model, and we all love it even though it is quite heavy. Bought a house that had a Numatic left behind. Wasn't doing the job for us. I bought this, and prior to using it, I hoovered the passage using the Numatic. Then used this Shark and honestly it was amazing. Picture alone shows how much more dirt it took it. Really good suction, good attachments. Wife's hairs were dealt with easily. Getting it on the prime sale helped even more regarding the value for money. Highly impressed with the hoover over.It does get caught on the current carpet in detect mode, as in the roller stops spinning and shows an error. This is due to changing modes and the roller at the slower speeds can't handle the thickness of the carpet, so before it even speeds up it gets stuck. But this is easily dealt with with the manual selection of modes after turning it off and on again.

Cleans really well including pick up dog hair - powered brush FTW.
Cleans ever so well. We have a black Lab and his hairs go everywhere and this machine cleans them all up from our thick carpets. The powered brush hasn't clogged up with hair or bits of thread yet, and that's after using it for months. And it's a powered brush! This is the main reason I bought this vacuum as I was sick of turbo brushes on my Henry getting lazy over time.I love the way it comes apart at the push of a button so you can easily carry the dust collector (the bit with the motor) up the stairs to clean them.Filtration is good, three separate filters, two washable and one where you can tap out the dust. Buy yourself a spare set.The dust collector holds a decent amount of stuff, just over a weeks worth of vacuuming (we live in a fairly big semi detached gaff). The other thing I love about it is that it will happily roll from a hard floor and onto a doormat, I've never had a vacuum cleaner that does this before.Criticisms:The power cord is almost long enough to reach without swapping sockets. 1 more metre, please. The dust collector needs two hands to open it, I would like to have it open with one hand at arms length over the bin instead. It's a little heavy to push round (but heavy means quality, right?)These criticisms are for Shark to read really, don't let me put you off buying one.I would buy this same unit again in a heartbeat, it's a brilliant machine, sucks like a hole in a spacesuit and picks everything up, right to the edge of the carpet.

Powerful and Impressive
I got this Shark Stratos XL to replace my old cordless one, which after 4+ years, was starting to lose suction, and just not doing as good a job as I wanted it to.This one was very easy to set up, everything basically clicks into each other, but the instructions are lovely and clear. I was also very pleased to see all the accessories and pieces were wrapped in brown paper, no plastic in sight! It did take me a minute or two to insert the anti-odour disc, I've never seen one of those before, and you have to insert it before first use. It was pretty simple to do though, you just remove it from the metal can it comes in, line up the arrows and push it into place, then turn it until it clicks, and choose your intensity level. After using it for the first time, I can honestly say this is in a whole other league. It is so powerful, it's cleaned my carpets and hard floors amazingly, my carpets look brand new again! I have young children, so I vacuum every day, sometimes more than once! But look at how much dust this picked up from my living room only, I was shocked! (see my photos)The accessories are great, you get a thin crevice tool, a wider surface tool, and then the pet tool, which also has the anti-hair wrap technology built in. The anti-hair wrap you get with a Shark is a huge positive for me personally, I've had other brands of vacuum over the years which don't have this, and I was forever pulling hair from the brush bar. Not with a Shark! You can use it multiple ways, so cleaning the stairs, under furniture, or getting rid of high up cobwebs etc, is a breeze!I will just say, that is is quite bulky in size. It's also much heavier than what I'm used to, and it will take me a while to get used to having a cord again, but overall I am very happy and impressed. This is the power I wanted from my cordless stick, but it just wasn't up the job. I would definitely recommend!

Powerful but heavy.
For the most part, I really like this vacuum. Coming from a cordless shark vacuum, the ability to pick up stuff is noticeable. However, so is the weight. You feel like you've had a small work out after vacuuming a large space, in our case a 3000 square foot house. With the automatic detector built in, it senses what type of floor you're vacuuming and adjusts accordingly making it very easy to use, no manual switching. Whether on carpet or hard floor, thick pile or thin pile, the ability to suck up dust and larger items is just what you want. I place the vac head to my hand and it probably sucks 3 times stronger than our cordless which is about 5 or 6 years old now. I love that I don't have to worry about my battery running out before I finish the job, but I also feel the cord could have been longer, just another 1 metre would have made a difference. Plenty of attachments help get jobs like the stairs done easily and I like the way you can pick up the body away from the unit itself so it becomes a mobile carry vac instead.Value for money - 4/5Suction - 5/5Weight - 3/5Pick up performance - 5/5Build quality - 5/5Great vacuum, move from Dyson to shark a few years ago and haven't looked back.
