Can this unit be opened once it's used? I don't want to break it to replace the drive inside.

I open mine from time to time and change out the drives. Someday I will buy more of these boxes and won't have to do that, anymore. It is easy. Requires no tools.

The video says that 3 minutes frequent sleep harms the drive. i am not sure i follow that. does it mean i lose my hdd data under what conditions?

You won't loose your data from the drive going to sleep. It's just "harmful" to an SSD because everytime your PC goes to sleep or hibernates it writes to your SSD essentially storig what you have running. If your computer cycles sleep/hybernation frequently then you put unnecessary writes on the SSD essentially shortening it's lifespan. Typically it is good practice to disable the sleep/hybernate features along with a few others like indexing and recycle bin storage. There are plenty of guides on how to help extend the life and performance of your SSD, just simply Google search it.

Does it work with windows to go?

I would bet probably so. Windows-to-go is dependent on your hard drive choice, but I have seen it work when "it really shouldn't". Where most people get sidelined is not the drive choice but the bios/setup settings on the pc/laptop/etc device. The variance among them is huge.

The price options are for different products; built to hold larger vs. smaller capacity drives. Understand what you want/need and then order the product that meets your need. I have the smallest capacity drive and it works great for what I wanted.
