Do you need an amp for these speakers or are they fine without one?

They will work and give pretty good sound without one, depending on the watts of your head unit. But they definitely sound better with an amp

If you are using the stock head unit without a subwoofer I would say No Amp. I did not install an amp and the sound quality is great! Way louder than my facoty speakers.
