It uses a standard 120v AC household wall plug. To use it without an AC hookup, look for a device called a "power inverter" which changes 12v DC to 120v AC. Depending on the amount of juice you need, they can be pretty inexpensive. Just wondering, but how do you have a coax outlet somewhere with no electrical plugs? AND, without AC current, how are you going to plug in the smart TV or computer to use the ethernet signal in the first place? If it's someplace like a backyard shed, don't buy these. Just run an industrial extension cord together with a couple hundred foot long Cat6 cable and you'll come out a lot cheaper.
