Color me impressed. Other reviewers may be a bit confused or impatient.
Hi everyone - I don't do YouTube videos or anything, so I figured the best place I could provide feedback is here. My black/gold S60 arrived yesterday afternoon and I've had some time to develop first impressions. I've gone from HTC Sensation > SGSIIE4GT > Galaxy Note 3 > Note 4 > LG V10 > T-Mobile Revvl > S60. My requirements have always been Micro SD slot, removable/expandable battery, and usability/durability/longevity.As another commenter already stated I went through the initial setup phase and just basically kept skipping everything until I got to the home page. Then did a factory reset to wipe it all and start over. I did not install any SIM card or SD card before going through setup. Once I got it all good, I added my WiFi network and could then add my Gmail and other accounts. I don't think the WiFi feature is enabled during setup. Not an issue at all IMO.Play Store comes pre-installed. I've had no problem downloading any of my normal apps.I did have to do a system enhancement firmware update out of the box, which took no more than 5 minutes.PROS:- It's a beast. Heavy duty. I really like the feel in my hand of something burly, not these little namby-pamby shiny slippery glass products.- I love a physical camera button- Vanilla android. No bloat, all things run very smooth so far.- It fits my existing fast charger plug (I don't own a wireless charging station, I tried it in the past on my V10 and had nothing but problems so I gave up on the tech)- The aluminum back is sure gorgeous and defined.- The speaker is loud!Cons:- It's a beast. Heavy duty =) . Do not fool yourself thinking this is a Galaxy S8. It's tough, it's heavy.- I haven't been able to find a volume/sound notification bar toggle button. So I don't know how to quickly set it to vibrate/silent/noise- The screen protector came installed with bubbles and cockeyed, had to tear it off an reinstall the new one that Doogee provided in the box. Hopefully a tempered glass will come out soon.- Like some other peeps have said.....lots of buttons to hit on the outside. You have to hold the phone basically in the middle, no other real choice.I'll update this review later or just answer direct questions if you have any.11/2 update:- just had my first phone call on speaker. It's LOUD. That's a very nice treat.- however, the phone is definitely NOT stereo. Volume only comes out of one grille. It's not broken, seems like that's the general concensus with the S60.- I got the Micro SD to finally bite. A previous reviewer is WRONG. I was NOT forced to format it for only this phone. I set it up as just an external storage option. I do have the option to format it for just this phone though, but the explanation seemed like that would only be required if you plan to save and run apps from it. So you basically have the option to "install it" as just external storage, or format it entirely to be run as "internal storage" so you can run apps on it.- The battery is great so far. The charging cable is absurd though.....it's like 14 inches or something. How stupid is that?- Zero lag with the phone. I'm rather impressed thus far. Runs Gmail and Imgur and Textra like a dream =)11/12 update:- I'm getting about 3.5-4 days out a full charge with 8-9 hours SOT. I'm not a power user, which is why I always want expandable/removable batteries. Great battery life, hope it keeps up.- I'm really bugged that I don't have a simple volume toggle switch on the notification bar. Pisses me off, pretty annoying. I'm shocked that's not a part of straight Android.- The pre-installed "SIM Toolkit" app doesn't work. No idea what it's for- I get questions probably twice a week about the phone. People notice it.- I miss having a "menu/options" button in the menu bar11/22 update:- my Sony L-plug headphones don't fit in the jack. The jack is too deep. Only headphones with a straight plug will work12/15 update:- the Micro SD card disconnected last week. The phone did a reboot and I lost it. Gotta do that all over again.- I use Chrome browser. If I turn the power off while the browser is open on the screen, I have to double-click to boot into the camera to get the phone to power back on. It's janky.- I'm easily still getting 4 days battery life though. Consistently.- I found the volume toggle in the settings bar. It's called "Do Not Disturb".- You have to dial very slowly in the dialer app. Too quick and it thinks you're trying to zoom......on the dialer.......very stupid. I thought I put this in previously, but doesn't look like it.- the phone takes about 4.5 hours to fully charge. Is that quick charging?1/7/2018 update:- the Chrome browser issue drives me nuts. And it's not just Chrome, you basically can't wake the phone if you locked it running on an actual app.- Pandora completely doesn't work trying to run it for more than 10 seconds.- the speaker volume is janky. Sometimes it's crazy loud, on calls it's very quiet, if you put the phone volume on 'vibrate', when I play games the speakers make a slight pop sound where a sound from the game would typically be heard.- the SD card issue still persists. And it's not easy to just "move" files (pictures, videos, gifs, screenshots) from phone storage to SD storage in the Gallery app- I went to Japan over the holidays for 2.5 weeks, the phone was useless. Couldn't get signal anywhere.- the headphone jack drives me nuts with my L-bend Sony headphones. It's too recessed, so I can't use my headphones with the phone.- I can't auto set the camera to save shots to the SD card in camera Settings- the phone badly needs a root and custom ROM- I wish the LED notification light was brighter when it blinked- good luck getting the charging flap open if you just cut your fingernails =)- still getting 3-4 days out of a charge.- my Seneo wireless charging pad works just fine with the phoneOverall, I just bought a used S8 Active and going back to Sammy. Will be selling this soon if anyone is interested. Mine is black/gold. Go Pens!!!1/24/2018 update since my S8 Active deal fell through:- the Gmail app is super irritating. If you begin a message, and save it as a draft, then go back in to keep writing, the phone does all sorts of weird sh*t with adding characters and letters and spaces. It's really obnoxious. Nearly impossible to finish a draft.- the Pandora app still doesn't work right. I can open the app and let it play music, but if I try to do something simultaneously or rotate the phone horizontally, it crashes.- the speaker volume is very glitchy. Sometimes the speakerphone is insanely loud, other times it feels like it doesn't work.- I've been having a HUGE issue the past 7-10 days with my phone not receiving texts. I use Textra on TMobile, and my TMobile messaging log shows the text being sent by the person and my account receiving it, but it doesn't come through to my phone. I had to delete Textra. The stock messaging app is so ugly.- I'm going to keep shopping for an S8 Active.

NOT A WATER PROOF phone
(NOT WATER PROOF)...I'd got the device 2 months ago, and I went for the first time down to Cabo San Lucas in Mexico and being so excited now that I had my 3 proof phone ( WATER proof!?).. I got in the water and had the phone on my hand, went a little deeper In The water, I'd took some pictures (not submerged in the water), and by the time I wanted to get out I'd submerge the phone for a few seconds trying to swim out of the water and by the time I got out, the phone was already off. I'd Saw some steam in the screen let it dry for 3 days and the phone still didn't work.. so is NOT WATER PROOF.. now I just wasted my money and I have no phone... Thanks!

Don't buy if you're on AT&T (updated 2 months after purchase)
Make note, AT&T will not accept this phone on their accounts. It will only get 3G and they don't use 3G protocol for data anymore, so you won't get mobile data. Cricket apparently does have the protocols to accept this phone on their systems, though. This phone comes bare bones, not a lot of apps or processes pre-installed, which is nice. Camera has good resolution, front and back, and some interesting options for capturing images. The toolbox was a great addition, and I've already used several in just the one week I've had it. Sound is a bit wonky, since the speakers are on the back, meaning that placing it on hard surfaces gives you a good volume and sound quality, while on soft surfaces it mutes sounds. This is fine as long as you want to listen without video, since the speakers are on the back of the phone.UPDATE: only two months in and a few drops later, the speakers operate erratically, power on takes much longer than at the beginning, Bluetooth connection is a random affair without manually attempting to connect, keyboard operations are slow to respond and will randomly change swiped text words. As a rugged phone this is a disappointing contender. The case and screen are undoubtedly tough, but the guts appear to be just a weak as any other phone out there.

Waterproof, rugged enough to pop open beer bottles, good enough for every day use.
This is a Chinese 300$ phone. It works better than should be expected of such a thing and is highly ruggedized for that price point. As of this writing I've had it about 5 months. It restarts sometimes and the camera requires patience. Otherwise the operating system flies and it does everything a phone should. It's lasted me longer than any smartphone has without a broken screen, and I can open beer bottles with the chassis of the thing. Its been in the ocean in Hhawaii kayaking in Massachusetts, and I don't hesitate to answer texts in the shower. My next phone will be another of these. And if they continue the line I'll follow it. Want a flagship? Don't buy this. Want a phone that goes anywhere at a more than acceptable performance level for cheap? Buy this.

Pros out weigh the cons
I've had this for a few months now I like the phone it serves it's purpose well I work construction I've dropped this a few times and holds up well and battery life is amazing on long days working ot my coworkers hve needed to charge up and I'm good to go. The Android system does take some getting used to I'm coming from an htc phone. The cons are the base weather app is in celcius and I've seen no way to change, and the camera seems to unlock in my pocket and take lots of pictures had a 100 completely black pics once. And it is a bit of a pain to get your sim card in just the right spot to read it. But overall the phone is cheap durable great battery life and the size and weight is the same as a phone with a case to give it comparable battery length or durabilityUpdateBattery still lasts great phone has been dropped thrown and hasn't cracked yet sure a couple denta in the metal but just adds character. Little things I've noticed the factory temp doesn't seem capable of changing to Fahrenheit and the time doesn't seem to update while the screen is being used. But still overall like the phone

Busted rugged glass
How can you advertise this phone as rugged phone when it dropped from three feet and the screen got busted up like this. Its more like monkey glass not gorilla glass
