I'm Surprised! Solid, sturdy, comfortable. A great bargain!
I'm surprised! This teak bench is VERY nicely made and the wood components are solid and sturdy. All wood is sanded ultra-smooth and rounded to eliminate sharp edges unlike what you find on many other less expensive benches. I also appreciate the design of the rounded top which gives it a more expensive, and classic, teak bench look. (by the way, this bench is still made of teak, unlike many others in this price range)Assembly was a breeze and it went together in minutes with no problem. The hard plastic "feet" which screw into the bottom of the legs allow you to balance the bench on uneven surfaces but, more importantly, help to keep the wood 1/4 inch off the ground to minimize wicking of water into the legs. That's a thoughtful design and this feature, alone, should help the bench last longer. Also, I nearly forgot to mention that it is exceptionally comfortable. Outside of a cherry glider we purchased years ago (from a maker that is sadly no longer in business), this is the most comfortable wooden bench we own, out of 4 total. It isn't the least expensive bench you can buy, but if you can get it under $300, I'd say it is a steal. I only wish they made it in a 5-foot length.

Easy to put together
This is a sturdy, handsome, well-made bench. Although as noted in other reviews, there is scant information on how to put it together, it is not hard. Put the two arms/legs on the back and front rail first, but do not tighten too much. Then there is plenty of leeway to put the seat on, getting the pins in each side and front and back rails. It does help to have two pairs of hands at this stage! Then tighten all around. Took only 20-30 minutes to assemble. Unlike so many other products these days, ALL the screw holes lined up properly, and the screws are good quality.

Good Bargain for A Teak Bench
When I ordered this bench I was a bit concerned of the quality of the teak material for the price. But when it arrived I was happy to see generally clear and decent quality teak wood used to make this product, except one leg has a little sap wood at the end and as a result the corner broke off, It does not, however, affect the function and not very noticeable. However, I do have a few issues with this bench. First, It took me a little effort to assemble it, because some of the pins and screw holes would not line up to fit together. Luckily I have been a woodworking hobbist for decades. I ended up using my glue clamps to realign the pins and screw holes. I am not sure what an average buyer would do. Second the wood was so dry that a supporting piece under the seat cracked and split at the end. I think it is a must that a generous coat of teak oil be applied to it before putting it out in the sun and rain. I don't mind oiling any wood product. But I believe the manufacturer should at least have done the basic coat of oil so that additional oiling is an option not a necessity. My last issue is the width of the slats in the seat. It is narrow and sparse, so there is too much opening in the seat. I know teak is not a cheap wood, but I don't believe a little wider slates or smaller gap between the slates would increase cost by that much. The bottom line, however, is that teak is beautiful and durable. At this price, it is a worthwhile buy because a bench made of cheap wood stained to look like teak often costs almost the same.

Shoddy manufacturing
Box was open upon receipt.Wood quality was very good. One side will not butt up to connecting piece; dowel won't go in all the way after everything screwed in; concerned about future durability. One lag screw could not be installed. Screw stopped by a piece of metal before it could be fully screwed in. Had to put an anchor in hole and use a shallower screw.End of one of the seat slats not screwed down and floating upward. Will have to screw this in somehow.Perhaps these problems are anomalies, but not happy with this product considering its price.

Looks even better than the online photos
It arrives in 5 parts: two sides, back, seat, seat support. Easy to put together. The bolts use a star wrench. The one that comes with the unit is pretty dinky, but lucky for me, I had my own deluxe star wrench with a handle. I recommend you take the little one to the hardware store and get a big one with a handle. Before assembling, I also bought a can of teak oil from my local hardware store; the oil does not come with the unit. And I liberally slathered that on the separate parts with a brush, all sides and crevices, and lightly wiped that off; I let it dry for about 2 days, and then assembled it. It looks fantastic! And it is super sturdy! Very nice looking teak. I was going to put this on the front stoop, but it looks so good it's going on the patio, so I'm going to order a second one. Sometimes I am really surprised with a great find on Amazon, and this is indeed one of them.

4 th bench I have bought and all have been sturdy and look good
I have bought and am using 4 of these in the lobby of my business. All 4 benches are used inside, sprayed with a Spar Urethane prior to assembly and have held up very well over the last 4 years. Putting together takes a little work as the wood warps just a little - probably due to humidity differences from where they are made and here in the U.S. However with a little patience and gently prying they fit together well and the large screws hold the bench together well. The adjustable rubber coated feet screw in to the height you need so that it will not wobble on any surface. Good solid product.
