Can I place the unit outside my Garage & wire it to the switch inside the garage to open & close Garage door?

Yes, it has a set of normally open or closed contacts. Parallel new push button with inside button.

Can i just wire this keypad up directly to an already existing magnetic door lock or do i need to but any additional hardware?

The keypad is only a relay and will not function as a separate power supply. You will need a source of current for any magnetic lock, and the keypad itself will require power as well.

I wan't to use this in a car. Can this be wired with a switch so it can be turned off to conserve battery when parked? Is the memory non-volatile?

Yes it can be wired to a relay to handle larger currents. Keep in mind that when you disconnect the battery you would loose radio programmed stations. Also your relay would have to be large enough to handle the currents required to run your vehicle. Finally, yes the memory is non-volatile. It uses EEPROM type memory which stands for Electrically Erasable Programmable Read Only Memory. Even if you leave the unit unplugged for years, the last code you had in it remains. Hope this helps.

When code is activated is the n.o. contact momentarily on or latch on after activated?

It all depends on how you program the system. You can program to be momentary or latch. I used this keypad to control a separate relays for 120v Wood shop.
