Works as expected.
My old Panasonic died after many good years of use. This one seems a little nicer and works well.

Excellent design and performance
Excellent design, smooth and quiet operation, cuts nose hair closely and painlessly. Used for ear hair too with great results. Very sharp blades cut without pulling or tugging. No issues regarding battery life.

Well-made, effective, and quiet but can stop working (see possibly solutions in review)
I had been using an older model Panasonic ear/nose-hair trimmer for over five years until it finally gave up the ghost. This one is even better. It's solidly-built, comfortable to hold, and very effective at the simple task it's designed for--removing small hairs. I didn't have any problem with the noise level--I thought it was fairly quiet--but if, for some reason, you put it deep into your ear it does sound noisy. But for nose hair and hair at the entrance to your ear canal I found it fine. I think it's a good value for what you get. If this one lasts close to five years, like my last one, I'll be very happy with it.In the past two months, it stopped working four times. I puzzled over what to do and considered ditching it. But since it's a nice product and there isn't an obvious replacement to buy, I decided to experiment a bit. The first time it started working again after I removed the battery and reinserted it. The second time this didn't work but rapping the base of the trimmer on a countertop got it working again. The third time, when I hadn't used it for over a week, neither of these solutions worked and I was resigned to ditching it but decided to bank it harder against the countertop and after 5-6 hits it started working again. The fourth time, when I hadn't used for several days, 2 knocks did the trick. It's been working perfectly for about four months since then.I'm mentioning this because other reviews also mentioned this problem (though not the potential solutions), so it may affect your purchase decision and, if you purchase this trimmer, you may need to deal with the problem. I puzzled over what caused the problem and two guesses are that it is either (1) a loose connection between the battery and motor due to low manufacturing tolerances or (2) the lubricant hardens during periods when the trimmer isn't used. But I'm not sure.I have three recommendations. First, consider another trimmer that doesn't have this problem (or worse problems). Unfortunately, I don't recall seeing any. Second, check out the product carefully during the return window so you can exchange it for one that (hopefully) doesn't have this problem. Third, if it's past the return period, try using it regularly and try these solutions before you ditch it.

Effective and efficient for hairy ears
This is good for an old guy with hairy ears. It leaves a very small amount of stubble but not enough to bother me. It does reach into the hard to reach parts. The nice part is that I don't have to watch it closely in the mirror. I just run it around where it needs to go, mostly by feel. The motor doesn't seem very powerful but I can go over all the areas that need attention and it does the job. It can be cleaned with water but I don't bother with that. I just spread a bit of tissue on the counter, pull out the cutting head and give everything a quick brush. A brush is included.

This trimmer does an excellent job
My old Panasonic trimmer was dropped and broken, so I searched for a replacement. My first purchase was a trimmer that seemed like a good idea in that it was rechargeable via USB. But it was very poor at actually trimming hair. So my search resumed. This Panasonic uses an AA battery. From my prior Panasonic, I expect that will last many months, so the lack of USB recharging is probably actually good. Rechargeable batteries tend to wear out and it is hard or impossible to replace them. AA batteries are easily replaced. This trimmer does a nice job of trimming the hair. It has an odd feature that I had to check the owners manual to understand. There is a ring with a faucet icon. Rotating that ring opens a port on the back side of the trimmer to allow you to flush the head with the water escaping through the port. That is clever but not really necessary since it is easy to remove the head to clean it.One very important feature that some competing models did not appear to have: a hard plastic head cover to protect the head when it travels in your toiletry kit.

Good trimmer, but it does not last very long.
This is the second one that I have purchased. The trimmer does a very good job for its intended purpose. The problem is that after just a few weeks it begins to malfunction and will not turn on. I remove the battery and adjust the connecting battery tab. That works for a short time and then it has to be done again. I readjust it again. After a few times, it will not operate. I purchased a second one thinking that the first one was just a lemon. After two weeks, the same thing happened. It trims better than the other brands that I have tried, but I wish the unit lasted longer.

Ease of Use
This trimmer works very well and is easy to use. My husband had a stroke and needed a trimmer he could operate with one hand. This is it. He loves it.

quit running, but banging on counter helped it start.
As Wintable mentioned, banging it on the countertop helped his start. Mine quit after 2 years so I tried hitting it on the countertop. After progressively harder hits, it started running again. I don't know how long it will last but it's worth a try.Another suggestion if you use it only every few weeks or less is to remove the battery. Sometimes the battery will leak and that ruined my previous trimmer.
