Morakniv Companion Spark 3.9-Inch Fixed-Blade Outdoor Knife and Fire Starter

This is a pretty typical Mora knife. The blade is top notch, and the knife is basebones and functional. Knocking off a star, because I would really love it if the lanyard went through the knife and the firestarter, so that in case of inadvertent separation they stay together.

All in all. The KNIFE is amazing.... however, I cut the living hell out of my finger trying to use the ferro rod. I was being what I thought was completely safe, and still managed to slice my finger. I can tell you , this knife comes sharp AF. But I could not get one spark to shed from the rod and the knife. For the price, the knife alone is good, feels good, and the sheath is good. Butinpaid for the spark knife because I wanted to use it as its advertised.. so, only 1 star overall...

Almost a week early - Companion blade. If there is any problem with the retention of the ferro rod I'll do an update. I trust the quality of a Mora. Not sure why a 15 dollar knife is $29 with a ferro rod, but I wanted the feature :)

Great knife. I like the less-polished finish on this. It’s more like a Garberg finish, which is better to have for the sharpened 90 degree spine. I like the color options on this series. Something a little different compared to other models. I would say it gets dinged a little bit with the size a grip capabilities with holding the fire steel handle. Not the toughest to handle but not ideal. I think this knife is best used for hiking or camping where you will most likely don’t really need the fire steel to start fires, as many places forbid them in the Summer months anyway, but’s it’s good to have to start propane stoves and alcohol burners or as a backup info room source. Nice for light wood prep or whittling, small tasks and good for outdoor food prep on the trail.

This is my go-to fishing knife. It is stainless steel so I don't worry about it rusting. It is sharp out of the box. I use the added fire starter to start my fires when I want to eat a fresh-caught fish at camp or by the river or lake. Awesome knife for the money. The sheath is great to carry on my belt or store in my pack. It is lightweight. It is a Morakniv...what more can you ask! I highly recommend this knife.

The knife is very well built. The blade metal is of excellent quality and holds a fine edge. It can be honed razor-sharp. I haven't owned it long enough for it to require sharpening as of yet. The ferrocerium rod works well enough against the spine of the knife too, but I EDC a larger one on my keychain anyway. Moreover, it's a small enough blade that it doesn't set off the New York City weapons laws.One downside is that there is no way to attach the ferrocerium rod insert to the handle of the knife it doesn't get lost. Also, I would have preferred a full tang, but it doesn't seem to negatively affect the balance much. For those two, I removed one star.All in all, highly recommended!

I just recieved this knife. WOW! this is by far the sharpest factory edge ive ever purchased. I own at least 30 fairly higher end knives as well and this $25 knife blows them all away. im not a bush crafter but id imagine this thing would excel at that. what a great knife. im super happy with it. it is literally shaving sharp. perfect camp knife. the stainless makes it perfect for food prep as well. oh and the knife has no problem sending sparks flying with the included ferro rod. I cant believe this knife is $25?????? like WOW. buy this one

I received this item today and I was surprised to see that I also received the WRONG COLOR SHEATH, dark green instead of black, with a scribbled out sticker on it?! how do they jack that up?! I love Mora because of the true scandi grind they offer yet they let me down in that area as well..my companion spark came with a secondary bevel on both sides of the blade (see pics) damn Morakniv, I own a few of your knives and love them all but you really messed up with this one. Immediately returning and will not order this knife model again.

Der Zündstahl auf dem Foto zum Vergleich ist der light my Fire Scout.Es ist keinesfalls ein "Anfängermesser", sondern nur aufgrund des Preises für jeden "leistbar".Die Schweden haben es für den täglichen harten Einsatz gebaut. Für den beruflichen Einsatz für Jäger, Förster, Fischer genauso wie für den Freizeit- und Hobbybereich.Die Klinge ist beim Spark nicht poliert und der Klingenrücken ordentlich "kantig", was ich nicht nur für Zündstähle nutzen kann.Warum ist es "DAS BESTE" für mich?Keines meiner inzwischen vielen Messer hat sich mehr bewährt und war öfter im Einsatz als das Mora Companion. Warum? Ich habe es fast immer dabei, ich nehme es gerne mit da es überall Platz findet, alle ihm gestellten Aufgaben sehr gut meistert und unter 130g wiegt. Auch fehlt die Diskussionsgrundlage ob pulvermetallurgischer Stahl vielleicht doch besser ist....Inzwischen zeige ich es mit stolz her, da ich Geschichten darüber erzählen kann. Die beste davon: Das Messer begleitet mich fast immer und hat mich niemals im Stich gelassen!!Finde ich es nicht mehr, kaufe ich ein neues....14 Euro für die "Normalversion", 26 Euro für das Spark, was solls.... Aufgetaucht ist noch jedes, jetzt sind es schon drei....Es gibt auch das Light my Fire mit Zündstahl, ebenfalls von Mora hergestellt. Die Klinge ist hier etwas filligraner, unmerklich dünner und kürzer. Der Bereich an der Spitze ist zusätzlich in einem anderen Winkel und Phase angeschliffen. Das ist u.a. für feineres Arbeiten (Schnitzen) hilfreich. Insgesamt noch etwas leichter und kleiner. DAs Companion ist mir lieber.

シースはプラスチック製で、先端には水抜き（？）の穴が開いている。ナイフを収納する時は、カチッと音がするまで押し込むと振っても落ちないくらいホールドしてくれる。シースから抜くときは、シースの背側に突起部分があり、そこを親指で押しながらグリップを引き抜くと抜きやすい。それは多分すでにモーラナイフを使っている人は知っているかもしれないが、これから買う人のために書いておく。ナイフそのものは、このコンパニオンシリーズはすべて、そうなのかも知れないがブレードの幅が細めで厚みも少々薄め。フェザースティックを作ったり料理に向いていそうだ。バトニングにはちょっと難がありそうだ。箱出しで、かなり良く刃がついており切れ味は良い。ブレードの鋼材は、ソフトなスチールだが、手入れ（刃研ぎ）は容易に出来そうだ。付属のファイヤースティックは、グリップエンドに押し込めるようになっていて、押し込んだ状態でナイフのグリップエンドそのもので、握った状態で違和感なく使える。ただファイヤースティックそのものは、市販のものより火花が出づらいように感じたが、使い方にも問題があるかもしれないので練習してみよう。

Excellent Knife, Mora always makes high quality knives. There is one problem, you can't easily find a replacement fire steele piece that will replace the one that came with the knife. My recommendation is to use the knife with a separate piece of fire steele and use the one that came with the knife as an emergency back up.

Leider brach der feuerstein nach 3-4 mal Zünden ab. Ich nutze das Messer in einer Lagerfeuerkochschule. Normalerweise haben wir überall Zündstähle rumliegen. aber als Backup wenn es mal schnell gehen soll habe ich mir dieses MoraKnive gekauft. Leider brach bereits nach 3-4 maliger Nutzung der Zündstein durch.Ohne den Zündstein/stahl lässt sich das Griffendstück aber nicht mehr am Griff befestigen. Das ganze Messer ist damit Schrott.Da kann die Klinge noch so scharf und das Messer funktional sein.Leider findet man auch nirgend ein Ersatzteil oder eine Möglichkeit den Stein/Stahl zu ersetzen.2 Sterne für Robustheit udn Halbarkeit. Weil die Klinge und die Scheide serh gut sind und ein anderes Mora Modell würde bei mir immer 5 Sterne bekommen. Aber dieses mit dem Feuerstahl hat eben nur 2 verdient

当方はブッシュクラフト初心者であり素人です。バトニングとファイアースターターを体験したく購入に至りました。初のモーラナイフ、キャンプにて薪を用意し、ウキウキでバトニングをした最初の1回目、何かが飛んでいきました。そう、マグネシウム棒が付け根からポッキリ、そして後ろのグリップが飛んでいったのです。初めての使用で素人だったのもあり気付けませんでした。このナイフでバトニングするのであれば、マグネシウム棒を外してのご使用をお勧めします。
