The cutout cut sheet is in the photos on the left of amazons retail sales page. just tic through the photos

Q: According to description, cutout width is 29.75" and surface width is 30". So, only 0.25" is left for holding the cooktop. is that right?

I believe those dimensions are correct. Note that the width (or length?) dimension has a difference of 1 inch. I bought the 12 inch model and the cutout dimensions have a bit more overhang. A well made product, should be ok if you cut the hole as stated.
