This Solingen file is the ONLY brand that works good! All those other inferior brands just cannot compare to Solingen. I've been using foot planes since 1998 and Solingen was the original brand I had and used for years. Then suddenly, I couldn't find them locally at ANY store, so AMAZON to the rescue! If you ever use a Solingen German engineered model, you will never ever settle for another! And the blades....Solingen is the only way to go. I am thrilled to find this at such a great price, and this was packaged nicely and looks high end. You can't tell by the pics, but it is looks like such a nice professional tool. My daughter asked, "Ooooh...where did you get this?" She was also impressed! And it comes with a file tool that works like no other file I've ever used.

I purchased this item to shave down a wart that I have been treating with acid. The blade shaves off only a thin layer (very easily) and allows me to slowly remove the dead skin so the wart below can be treated more effectively. It does smooth out the skin, so after awhile it is too smooth to keep removing skin, even though so dead skin may remain. It is not the type of tool to get in deep, so I won't knock the product for it, but think it is worth mentioning in a review. I am happy with this product, and it comes with enough blades to last a good long time.

Been using this for a couple of months now, on a ball-of-foot callus I've had for years. It does work very well, and it's exciting to have an implement that does a good job with so little effort. It's very sharp, and it's easy to go too far (cut too much) at first... leaving the shaved spot feeling quite vulnerable for a day or two. The blade is very small and it can be hard to see exactly where you're cutting. I've tried it on both warm-softened skin, and regular unsoftened. I prefer it unsoftened, as you can too easily cut too deeply with softened skin. I'll be interested to see how long the blade sharpness lasts, as I expect I will be using this implement for many years to come.

This is the third Credo Solingen Planer that I have ordered: The first two were great, came as advertised and I still use them- - the third, ordered for a different house, came in weird packaging. I couldn't tell if the package contained the rasp until I opened it and doing so ruined the box! It turns out that the rasp was included but the instructions were nil. There is no way to store this item safely as shipped. And... THIS IS SHARP! It's practically dangerous. You have to be extremely careful with this item and the way this set arrived, loose and without instructions re how to change the blade or change out the rasp... well, it was bad. Why didn't I get the item that was advertised? I don't know- - but I'm not happy about it. Amazon has been really unreliable these days. UGH. AN ACCIDENT WAITING TO HAPPEN.
