Fantastic and affordable smart charger.
If you have need for a nimh/nicad battery charger for 6v-12v batteries ranging from 1000-5000mah then this is definitely a charger to consider. With two charging speeds, 1a or 2a, to choose from this fits a variety of needs. I use it to charge a 9.6v 2000mah nimh pack and on the 2a speed it takes about 1 hour. This does use a Tamiya style connector but does come with micro-tamiya and alligator clip converter. If you need something with another connector this still may be a good options if it would be eaper to buy this and then the tamiya>whatever you need converter than a charger with the connector that you need. This charger is indeed a smart charger. It will read if/when your battery is full and stop the charge at that point. It will also sense damage to the battery and has a sensor to check for an overheating battery and will shut off charging if those conditions are detected. All of this for under $20? Tremendous value.

Fits any Charging Needs
I absolutely love this charger. I bought it with my Tenergy 9.6 volt butterfly battery and it works wonderfully. It came with the battery relatively quick and was very easy to set up. The charger comes with 3 different adapters in order to charge any battery a typical air softer would need. It charges my 9.6 volt very fast even with a completely dead battery and after fully charging will stop charging it. This is a nice feature so the battery does not overheat or stay on a charger longer than needed to preserve battery life. The cord is not very long but as long as you're just charging a battery with it, it works just fine. The light indicator on the top of the box on the charger will light up when charging and turn off when done. This is a very nice feature especially if running late to a field. For the price, this is definitely a great product.

Works well on custom packs, fast and easy to use
I use this to charge a few custom battery packs I made for a power tool. I don't have a good way to test charge density but I do get the correct run time from the packs. Great value and easy to use. It does appear to continue charging at a decent rate after the light turns. It keeps the battery pretty warm at the end of the cycle so I wouldn't leave it plugged in too long once the charge is complete. Oh yeh, don't forget to insert the thermal couple inside the pack. It appears to have a safety built in and didn't completely charge the battery when I left the TC out. Great charger for the price, I'll be getting the higher voltage one as well.

tenergy Universal smart charger
Well, technology marches on, and nicads are unpopular with the EPA. (cadmium) so NiMH is coming on line. This charger does both, so I connected it to my 5 cell flashlight charger case. It works great and will charge either battery pack. For 5-10 cell packs 1000 - 2000 mah, place the charge rate switch on 1 amp. For packs 2000-5000 mah, place the charge switch on the 2 amp charge rate. Don't leave the charger unattended even tho it is supposed to stop charging after 4 hours, as per instructions. For the unwashed, nicads have a longer lifespan if recharged around the 30% discharged point: however, they also tend to accept this discharge level as the new totally discharged level. NiMH can be recharged at any discharge level without this effect, and tend to have more capacity than nicads; however, it also takes somewhat longer to charge them and they tend to deliver less current than nicads. If you really need current, go to lithium-ion. For my flashlight, I chose the NiMH and a led replacement bulb. A good combination.

so far, so good
The seller was Battery Superstore. I paid 15 bucks. It included the following connector adapter cables, but I don't use them:* one standard female Tamiya to alligator clips* one standard female Tamiya to small/mini male TamiyaI am using the Tenergy to charge a 7.2v 2000mAh battery and a 7.2v 3800mAh battery.I needed a banana connector to charge my batteries, so I also purchased a Redcat Racing ST-TAMFTO4B Version 4.0 Female Tamiya to Banana Adapter; the adapter fit the charger just fine. The charger is still new, and I haven't used it much. I'll update this review, if I have any problems.==============================Here are specifications from the Tenergy website:Indicators: LEDCompatible Chemistry: NiMH/NiCdInput Voltage: 100 - 240V ACCharging Voltage Range: 5.0V - 16VWeight: 236gOperating Temperature: -20°C - 80°COperating Humidity: 10% - 90%Storage Temperature: -20°C - 80°CStorage Humidity: RH < 85%Dimensions: 119mm x 61mm x 38mm (L x W x H)LED Indicators:* No Battery: Flashing Green* Charging: Solid Red* Fully Charged: Solid Green* Short Circuit: Flashing Red* Reverse Polarity: Flashing Red* Non-Rechargeable: Flashing RedHere is information from the user manual that was included with the charger:* it is a multi-current universal fast and smart charger* smart charger = just plug in battery and wait for it to be charged* for any NiMH battery packs from 6V-12V (5-10 cell pack)* do not charge battery packs under 6V or over 12V]* do not charge battery packs with capacity less than 1000mAh or over 5000mAh* it automatically detects the battery packs voltage* automatic cut-off by negative delta V detections, or* automatic cut-off when battery's temperature is over 60C* charger will stop charging after 4 hours (safety timer)* two current levels: 1000mAh and 2000mAh* for battery packs between 1000-2000mAh, use the 1.0A switch setting* for battery packs between 2000-5000mAh, use the 2.0A switch setting* for 5000mAh battery, charging time is about 210 minutes (using 2.0A setting)* for 2000mAh battery, charging time is about 150 minutes (using 1.0A setting)* one standard Tamiya male connector installed with the charger* red wire is positive polarity* always use the temperature sensor during charging* put the sensor onto the middle surface of the battery pack* Keep an eye on the battery pack when charging current switch is set to 2.0A.* Do not charge for a long time with such a large charge current.

Just what I needed to get my RC car going again
I bought an adapter with this, and 2 new traxxas end batteries. The charger is great value, works well for my set up and seems durable. 10/10!
