Can’t Tell The Difference
The media could not be loaded. At this point American brands like Benchmade are just designer products. You’re paying for the name, and that’s about it. Sure, they’re made in America and have better blade steel, but does any of that even matter when knives like this are so much cheaper? Who wants to pay top dollar for a knife and be scared to get it messed up. I currently have two bench made bugout’s, so I ordered this out of curiosity. The differences between these knives and the original are so small, it really makes you question the point of spending $150+ on a pocketknife ever again. Not to mention my bugout’s have been riddled with issues from springs breaking, screws falling out. It’s always in the mail being sent back to the manufacturer. 10/10 love this knife. Highly recommend.

Here's the low down on these BM clones....
The sellers of these things don't know ANYTHING about them as indicated by my messages with the seller. The version of this knife I recieved has matte yet smooth real carbon scales. Good finishing overall. Looks like 3k carbon. The blue alloy back spacer/lanyard has a thin gap between itself and the carbon scale on front side from the first mounting screw to the rear mounting screw near end of scale. Either the spacer is thicker where it screws into scale or whole thing is askew from mold/machining. I must note that I ALSO ordered/received the damascus carbon 535-3 version from another seller and it and it has up and down blade play (lock rock) on the axis lock barrel where the choke point on the blade tang was over milled/sanded at factory. I have a replacement in route and will see how that one is. The regular blade seller told me it's a "HUAOO" and that their stock is "all the same" despite scale and liner lock jimping discrepancies. We are clearly dealing with different production runs/parts specs mixed into same warehouse boxes. (LAME) The non-damascus version from this seller is superior in it's liner/axis blade lock up and blade shape finishing (in regard to interface with axis lock barrel and liner, it feels more solid.) That said, the next one shipped out could be a terd... The jimping on this standard silver colored blade version is more square profile when you look at it. Thats the one you want.... The triangular gator tooth shaped jimping is GARBAGE. Your thumb will slide right off... You can differentiate between versions/production runs but looking at the lanyard/backspacer thickness and gap count on back. Just look at alixpre$$ to see the different jimping (where they show that part of knife, and also not backspacer notch count and guage of lanyard loop. WTF is going on with prodution on these knives. If I could get the right jimping/scales, lockup, and carbon finish, I'd order 20 but who knows when these will disappear and or the producers will jump the shark... Also note that the brass threads for pocket clip mounting are non-existent. The pocket clips are screwed straight into carbon holes... Also kinda lame as this may cause delaminating. I find it hilarious the sellers on Ali3xpre$$ touting "high end" versions of these clones and selling for 150$ with photos of a random blade in a hardness tester. LOL. This is the grab-bag version of knives. YMMV

Better than my real Benchmade in some ways
I got this knife for $38.00 and it's just insane how nice it is for that amount of money. In some ways it's even nicer than my real Benchmade 940-1. That's a different knife design but it also has a carbon fiber handle and the same kind of locking mechanism (the Axis lock.)On my real Benchmade, the is not centered when the knife is closed. It arrived uncentered and I've tried to center it, but have never been able to, despite fully disassembling and rebuilding the knife. This is a common problem with Benchmade knives. This clone (of the Benchmade Bugout) came perfectly centered.Another difference is that on my real Benchmade, the screws that hold the carbon fiber scales on to the knife are too long, so they protrude into the space between the two sides of the handle. This isn't hugely noticeable, but on a $300 knife we expect better. This clone has screws that are the correct length and don't protrude. The pocket clip was too stiff, but you could adjust that easily. I just replaced it with a genuine Benchmade clip that I had laying around. You can also purchase aftermarket clips that will fit this knife. You can even get titanium clips in nice colors, like a blue one that will match the blue thumbstud and back spacer.Deployment of the blade was a little stiff when it arrived, but a drop of oil fixed that and so will a little time.Speaking of the blade, that's the big question here. What steel is it really? And how good of a heat treatment did they give it? Will it hold an edge?Answer: Who knows? And you know what? For $38 bucks I was totally willing to gamble. This knife feels great in the hand and it's a lot of fun. Highly recommended.

Very lightweight EDC
Love the looks...pretty much a dead ringer for a Benchmade Bugout. Has a few differences, but for a 125 bucks less, I can live with the difference. The steel is hard, near 60. What steel is used, no guess. Ad said 8/13. Maybe?? Quite usable for everyday. Carbon fiber handles are not slick, and eye appealing.
