Q: how much soil does the 12 pack make?

A brick can make up to 8 quarts, the material is not a soil, but rather an additive to a base soil to help with 2 potential soil problems: one is for poor drainage and the other is for soil that don’t retain a moisture content. I use a basic mix everywhere 50% coco coir and 50% soil (bagged potting soil or dirt mix right in your garden area). Remember that this is 100 % organic filler material and will be used up in about 3 years so count on adding some every few years.

Q: Do you add trichoderma to the coca?

Not specifically. I use it for my in ground garden but not in my container garden. I do 'refresh' the soil in my containers with a 'soil activator" that contains a range of microbes. i have started using Happy Frog or Ocean Forest soil from hydroponics stores (cheaper than big box or online) as my container garden soil as it already has a balanced range of microbes.

Q: With only a small portion of auto flower soil and some perlite, my tester showed 3.1ph for the container of coir. I thought this was ph neutral?

Coconut coir normally has a PH between 5.2 and 6.8 meaning it is slightly acidic. 3.1 PH is roughly equivalent to somewhere between Lemon and orange juice. I would first suspect the meter , in particular if is a few years old. I have used one of those $20 dollar double test meters and never quite trusted it . Litmus paper gives crude readings that are more trustworthy. Test your meter against some known quantities such as distilled water ( 7 ) Vinegar ( 2 to 3 ) and then again something like ammonia ( 11.6 ) or Bleach ( 11 +/- ) . You could also test the water used , the flower soil used , Perlite should be Neutral

Coconut bricks each measure 7.8 inches long; 3.9 inches wide; 1.97 inches high; compressed so tightly that each one will expand to about 2.3 gallons when soaked with water
