Nikon COOLPIX W100 Camera - Pink

Amazing product. Brought for a family holiday and paid for next day delivery at one of the drop off locations. This was great as I could go and pick it up any time I was able to. The yellow colour is fantastic and the camera itself works perfectly. Its very easy to use, and the quality was better than I expected. Would defiantly recommend this product for any families or anyone wanting a simple and high quality camera.

Very easy to use. My six year old took it on holiday and has some really nice photos.It's also complex enough for experienced photographers who want a quick photo.

With two children aged 7 and five, I was looking for a point & shoot camera that was robust enough for them to use unsupervised. The problem with most normal P&S cameras is that that they have fiddly parts like lens covers that small, inquisitive fingers can easily damage, or else they're prone to damage from being dropped or coming into contact with water.I looked at a number of cameras designed specifically for children, but the reviews for these were generally pretty damning. It seemed that the manufacturers of such cameras had forgotten that in addition to being robust they should also take decent photos.Then I came across the COOLPIX 100 Camera, and I thought I might have found what I was looking for. Turned out that I was right.Essentially the W100 is a standard COOLPIX P&S Camera wrapped in a very robust shell. This makes it bulkier and heavier than a typical COOLPIX camera, but no less competent when it comes to taking decent quality photos and short videos. It still has a combined optical and digital zoom and all the usual functionalities you would expect of a mid-range P&S Camera. If you want to add effects to your shots you can. There is Bluetooth functionality so that you can download shots to your phone or tablet. There is nothing you can do with a standard P&S camera that you can't do with the W100.The difference is that you can drop the W100 into a muddy puddle and after a quick wipe it will still work. With the lens mechanism enclosed by a sealed glass cap and the battery, I/O ports and SD Card slot protected by a sealed cover you don't have to worry about water damage or picking mud out of delicate moving parts. I wouldn't immerse the camera underwater for too long (although quick shots are okay) or repeatedly drop it onto a hard surface, but it will withstand short dips or a bit of rough treatment better than most cameras of this type.Which makes it great for children to use whilst still being of practical use for adults. You can even see that Nikon have realised this, as they've included a setting that specificallty makes the UI more child friendly.So, if you're looking for a P&S camera that is versatile and can be used by all the family I would strongly recommend the COOLPIX W100. Its not the smallest camera out there or the most well equipped, but it can take a beating and is simple enough for a five-year old to use.

Excellent camera, easy to use and attractive for a child. "Snapbridge" is difficult to set up and slow to work, but cable link offers practical alternative for the download of photographs.

A completely useless bit of kit. On its first day out of its box the shutter button failed to work. The few photos that it took before it gave up the ghost were of appalling quality. So disappointing because I bought this to take on caving trips, having used a reliable Nikon Coolpix S3200 for a few years. Unfortunately that one inevitably got wet once too often. On discussing this with two friends, I found that both had also tried the W100, and they had also returned them.

What a camera. Technology has come on leaps and bounds. It's shock proof, waterproof, excellent photo quality 13mB, what more do you want?

Camera is fine but, and a big BUT, the instructions were not in English and therefore useless in an English speaking market. It shouldn't be necessary to have to download English instructions. If you want to print for reference when you first go out with the camera the printout takes too much paper and bulk. Highly impractical and disappointing for intelligent granddaughter who wanted to work it out for herself. Shoddy service from the importer.
