Brazilian brown beans, COMBRASIL, sachet 1.0kg. The Carioca bean is a variety of the kidney bean. It's the most popular bean in the U.S. and northwestern Mexico, and in most cases it is eaten boiled, mashed (as a filling for burritos), or fried. In Brazil they are used in the light version of the national dish "Feijoada", which is served in everyday life as "Feijão com Arroz" (beans with rice). Pinto beans and rice served with corn bread or corn tortillas are often a hearty meal where meat is not available; the beans are an important source of protein in this case. Because of the stained skin that resembles the skin of the pinto horse, the beans are called "pinto beans" in Spanish. In Portugal they are called "feijão catarino".
