Toshiba PA5281E-1PRP Thunderbolt 3 Docking Station - Black

I got a new work laptop (Thinkpad T480) and wanted a simple way to connect my home setup to it. A single USB-C connection gives me Keyboard, mouse and monitor, plus USB-storage access.

The product has a significant number of ports. Depending on your setup, their position might or might not be convenient. In hindsight, I would have preferred more USB ports on front but that's not a big issue.The problem with this device is that the power delivery is inconsistent at best. My setup has two DisplayPort monitors connected to the station, which is then connected to a tablet through Thunderbolt. The problem I experienced was that, often several times a day, one of the monitors or in general any device attached to the station was randomly disconnecting. After a tedious investigation, I eventually managed to figure out that the issue is that the docking station doesn't get enough power to provide energy to both the tablet and itself, causing instability in the docking station.Luckily for me, my tablet has another USB-C port so I could both charge with its dedicated charger and connect it to the docking station, otherwise this purchase would have been a massive waste of money for me.Back when I purchased it the options were limited, but nowadays there are many more (cheaper) docking stations: I would choose one of those. Also, if you need a longer cable, make sure to purchase an "Active" Thunderbolt 3 cable, so that it supports the 40GB bandwidth, as apparently its needed to drive two monitors. With a passive cable, only one of the two monitors will work.

Broke within the second month.

J'utilise un Dock quotidiennement depuis 1 an avec mon Macbook Pro (15-inch, 2017). Suite à la débacle des docks Startech avec MacOS 10.13.4 j'ai du trouver un autre Dock et j'ai pris ce Dock Toshiba. Je branche sur le dock un cable ethernet, un casque avec micro, un écran et un iPhone. Eh bien déjà la sortie Display Port ne sort aucune image (aucun signal détecté par le moniteur). J'ai du utiliser le port HDMI. Puis la sortie de veille était extrêmement instable puisque sortant de veille, soit 20% du temps tout fonctionnait, soit 30% du temps l'écran externe ne s'allumait plus, soit 50% du temps l'écran externe était alimenté en image mais clignotait toutes les 10 secondes. 70% du temps je devais débranche le dock, attendre une stabilisation, et rebrancher. Parfois il fallait le refaire plusieurs fois d'affiler pour revenir dans un état stable.Dès que macOS 10.14 (Mojave) est sorti j'ai mis de coté ce dock Toshiba pour ne plus jamais l'utiliser. Je ne pense ni le revendre ni le donner, car ce serait un cadeau empoisonné.

Funciona muy bien, se le ve bien acabado, aunque es algo caro, pero incorpora la posibilidad de añadir 2 monitores y muchos periféricos más y la calidad es excelente. Lo único que le pediría es que el cable que va desde el dock al laptop fuera algo más largo, ya que no llega a los 40 cm, y al tener la entrada por la parte posterior queda un poco extraño, de ahí las 4 estrellas.Recomiendo su compra

Pro:- sieht sehr stylisch aus, macht auf dem Tisch einen guten Eindruck- viele verschiedene Anschlüsse- USB Geräte werden alle super erkannt, als wären sie direkt ans Notebook angeschlossenKontra:- Display Anschlüsse sind in zwei Bereiche unterteilt "Anzeige 1" und "Anzeige 2" was meiner Meinung nach absolut keinen Sinn macht.- Anschlüsse für "Anzeige 2" übersteuern die Anschlüsse für "Anzeige 1"- mehrere Monitore können nur gleichzeitig benutzt werden wenn über die zusammenhängenden Anschlüsse Anzeige 1 ODER Anzeige 2 angeschlossen (= hdmi + Mini-Displayport + vga ODER hdmi + Displayport; HDMI + HDMI gleichzeitig funktioniert nicht)- kleinste Bewegungen/Berührungen der Docking-Station sorgen dafür dass die Verbindung abbricht. Danach werden USB Geräte nicht mehr erkannt, Monitore gehen aus oder fangen an zu ruckeln- in Internetforen absolut keine Hilfe zur Docking-StationDesweiteren hatte ich persönlich ziemliche Mängel an der Dock, weswegen diese gleich am nächsten Tag zurück ging!- Der normale Displayport hat gar nicht funktioniert- HDMI unter Anzeige 1 hat funktioniert und auch die richtige Auflösung angezeigt am Monitor (ist auch richtig so)- Die Anschlüsse unter Anzeige 2 (HDMI + Mini-Displayport und VGA) haben gerade mal mit 1600 x 900 aufgelöst. Nach stundenlangem ärgern und probieren hab ich es dennoch nicht geschafft die richtige Auflösung her zu bekommen. (UPDATE: das selbe Problem hatte ich mit einer anderen Dock und konnte es mittlerweile beheben, weswegen ich diese Dock hier nochmals bestellen werde und damit testen!)- Wenn Monitore unter Anzeige 1 und 2 angeschlossen sind, dann übersteuern die Anschlüsse bei Anzeige 2 die anderen, was für mich völlig unlogisch ist. Wenn ich überall Monitore anschließe, dann müssten meiner Meinung nach in erster Linie die Monitore an Anzeige 1 funktionieren (ähnlich wie bei einem Router/Switch wo Lan1 höhere Prio hat als alle anderen).

Acheté pour utilisation avec un Toshiba Portégé X20W.Impossible à faire fonctionner, il ne reconnait ni les écrans ni le clavier, et il fait en permanence le son accustique qui apparaît normalement quand on branche ou débranche un dispositif. J'ai dû le retourner.

Llevo ya varios meses funcionando con él en un Toshiba Portege x20w y me da muchos problemas:- A menudo no reconoce USBs conectados al dock- Ralentiza el funcionamiento del ordenador- Tarda en duplicar o reconocer la pantalla externa- Ahora no ya carga el portátil, por lo que si no lo soluciono o bien tendré que dejar de usarlo o empezar el proceso de reclamación de garantía
