Gorgeous addictive brain burner, but not for everyone
This is the kind of game that you will love if you are into board games and like brain teaser clockwork puzzles, but it will be difficult to get to the table and to teach. It was, however, not as difficult to learn as I expected having never played a Lacerda game. The main problem was just getting my head around all the possible actions since there is some overlap and the decision tree isn't completely intuitive or obvious. The weight is not from the rules, all of which I had no problem remembering, but from analysis paralysis which is difficult to avoid! The game flies by surprisingly quickly if you don't think too long!Things I loved:- You never have everything you need! You have to plan ahead, or just work with what you have. Plotting a course out of a seeming disaster to a good turn is deeply satisfying.- The theme comes through very strongly. You really feel like you are rebuilding the city, and all of the rules make sense in that context.- Everything affects everything and *everyone* else.- Sandbox feel. Your accomplishments and strategies may vary greatly from game to game.- Very beautiful and thick components, incredible player boards. Gorgeous on the table.- Excellent and very clear rules, with many historical interludes and designer notes!Things I didn't love:- The tiny reference numbers on decree cards and clergy tiles. I'm not so old my eyes are going, but I still need a magnifying glass. Not awesome. At least I did get good at interpreting the icons without looking them up.- Player boards bowed a LOT while we played. That was kind of disappointing, but not a huge deal. It makes the backstop pointless. Update: They flattened out a lot after a year!- It lacks a central focus or gimmick that is super satisfying and breaks things up, such as Vinhos' wine. As a result, the game feels very uniform, and is harder to understand.

Love this game
This is probably the heaviest game I've played and has gotten me interested in some of Vital Lacerda's other games like Kanban EV. I have only played solo, and I can see this being really amazing playing with other people, but as a solo game I do have a few nitpicks. The solo mode is simple and easy to run, but beating the bot is easy, so for more of a challenge, there are objectives like beat the bot in points, number of shops, and have at least 8 decree cards. After a while, you see the patterns in what the bot does so getting those challenges can be a bit repetitive. There is an alternate solo mode on boardgamegeek and I've played it once so far. The alternate mode seems more involved to run, but the bot does more things a real player might do, which is nice. When it comes to the quality of the pieces, I have to say I am impressed. The player boards are double layered and some of the counters are screen printed. It seems they started putting the kickstarter components in there as well like the cloth bags and random city tiles which was nice to see. For organization, there are three organizing trays which make taking out and putting the game away a breeze.

Great, heavy game
A truly fantastic, beautiful, richly thematic resource management game about rebuilding the city of Lisboa after a series of disasters. Be warned though, this game isn't for the faint of heart. It terms of Euros, this is pretty much as complicated as they come. But the learning curve is worth it. If you like heavy, thinky games that reward multiple plays, this is for you.

Deep game, steep learning curve.
This game deep and has a well integrated theme. The learning curve, however, is steeeeeeep. Be prepared to spend a day just learning the flow of the game.

Rubble - it's everywhere !
One heavy box; one heavy game. Totally worth it. Works equally well with just 2p and higher player counts. If one is ready to go through the process of 100% understanding the game then he just might stand a chance to actually teach it to the new people. Highly recommended.

A beautiful, deep strategic board game.
Lisboa is truely one of my top board games of all time. Set in the city of Lisbon, the game’s design is one of its standout features, with beautifully detailed illustrations and a board that accurately represents the city. The art and aesthetics match the city of Lisbon beautifully and the game is considered one of the best-looking games in the market. I had the privilege of traveling to Lisbon a few years back and the game truly captures the essence of the city. From the streets and buildings to the ships and trade routes, Lisboa is a love letter to the city. The game is designed to give players a taste of the city’s rich history and culture, and it does so in a unique and memorable way.The gameplay of Lisboa is also impressive, with players taking simple actions that can have far-reaching effects. Each turn is full of decisions that will impact the player’s position in the game, and the strategy is deep and challenging. The game is not recommended for beginners as it requires a certain level of experience and skill to fully understand and enjoy it.The game mechanics are well thought out and create a sense of immersion in the city of Lisbon. Players must strategically manage their resources, build structures, and collect points in order to win the game. The game is designed to have a long play time, typically taking several hours to complete, but it truly doesn’t feel like a long exercise while playing. Once you get the gameplay down you can actually get through it relatively quickly compared to your first plays.Overall, Lisboa is a must-have for fans of deep strategy games. The combination of its beautiful design and challenging gameplay make it a unique and memorable experience. While the game may be intimidating for some, experienced board gamers will appreciate the depth and complexity of the game.
