Keeps out strange cats.
It took 12 days for the batteries to need recharging, my cat was locked out this morning. She just got used to it. Works great for other cats that think it's the old cat door. The collar works well.

Great, when it works...
Update: I've only had this for about a month, and it has stopped working completely. I can hear the locking mechanism click, when I turn it on, but it remains stuck in the unlocked position. I can manually lock and unlock it, but it is now effectively just a normal dog door and only the snow is keeping the cats from escaping through it.When this works like it's supposed to, it's great, but at least once a day the locking mechanism just simply doesn't recognize the RFID tag and I have to either power cycle it or turn it to Unlocked and back to Active to reset it. The result is a dog trapped on one side of the door or the other, which is exactly what this was supposed to solve. One issue I haven't seen mentioned here is the RFID fob itself. I've had the door two weeks and it's already indicating that the battery in the fob is low. A legitimate seller would make said battery replaceable, but there's no opening up the fob without basically destroying it in the process. This is, naturally, so that Ideal Pet Products can charge you $25 for a replacement of this $4 part.Installation was easy, but you have to get it perfectly even or the brush around the flap will run into the side of the frame and keep the flap from closing all the way. I was able to get it to work by trimming back the brush with scissors, but now there are gaps around the flap that let cold air in.The door is pretty flimsy (all plastic) and seems like it should be in the $40-50 range rather than $150. I got mine for $30 from Amazon Warehouse, but even at that price I'm having regrets. That every other electronic dog door on the market seems to have the same problems is small consolation.

Works good except for the lockout problem
I did not like the fact that it locks the dog out on occasion

You Have To Buy a Second FOB From The company
The product itself so far is working correctly. However, when you purchase this you will be show the SURE Petcare RFID Collar tags to buy with it. These are not compatible and if you have a second pet, you have to order the second FOB from the IDEALPETPRODUCTS.COM website. Not a huge deal I just wish I had realized that at time of purchase and now get to return the wrong tags. This is not a review per say on the product I purchased, just the marketing.

Disappointed
The lock feature worked great, for about a month. My cat got locked out and now it's not working with the switch or the collar. It makes the noise, but is jammed in some way. I haven't tried taking it apart yet, but I don't feel like I should have to do repairs after a max of 6 weeks in operation.

Failed after a month.
Updated to 1-Star: Locking mechanism has stopped completely. Dog didn't smash through it or anything - it just stopped locking. I've returned the unit, thankfully it had the decency to fail within the return window. Purchase something else!Original 2 Star review:Bought this unit primarily because it includes a wall outlet connection. That part works fine. The dog door itself is cheaply constructed. The manual lock sticks, so I have to remember to poke the door to get it to properly release whenever I'm unlocking it. The automatic locking mechanism has several problems.First, it is slow. Slooooow. My dog is fast. Even though I have the sensitivity set to max, he had to learn to stop in front of the door before it finally registers the collar. Even then, sometimes it doesn't ever register it and he walks away disappointed. It took him a while to learn he could even go out because of this defect.Second, the door itself is kind of awkward. Because of the "roo0f" or whatever it is, it can't swing up all the way when the dog is exiting, and even though I have a short dog, he has to duck to get out.Third, the locking mechanism itself is a single tiny piece of plastic. It holds up to basic poking well enough, but I am just waiting for the day he comes tearing through the door and busts right through it, after which I have a very expensive and cumbersome doggy door.I'm keeping it installed for now, mostly because strictly speaking it *usually* does *more or less* what I want, but if (when?) my dog breaks it, I'm probably not going to bother ordering replacement parts, and I'm definitely not replacing it with another from this same brand.

Terrible cheaply made product
This product is terrible and broke within a week! The parts are plastic with a small weak little motor. Installation is a pain as it has to be perfect for it not to rub or let in air around the edges. Stay away from this thing, waste of money!
